Even at our peak, I'm not sure we were ready for Tournament Blue Blood game. Duke vs KU looked like a NBA 1st round Game 7 at times. The ability of Kansas to cover for each other defensively, the amount of effort they put in and how smooth their communication was....an area that we need a lot of improvement in if we want to challenge these types next year. I do think in the end Kansas experience pulled them through, and thats our model. We're never going to stack a squad with 1&Done types so we need guys that grow for 2-3 years to lead us. Kansas got better shots and the ball found their best players when it needed to. Duke couldn't even get Bagley 10 shots and he's a monster that KU had no answer for, especially after their C fouled out.
KU didn't have near the NBA talent on the floor Duke did, but they have enough + experience that they always had a chance. They kept finding holes in that zone and getting the ball to the shooters where they wanted it because they've done this before and learned from it. Duke had one guy on the court who has been in enough of these moments and Young Ted Cruz had the worst shooting night of his life.
