OT: what the hell would AU do if Gus left now?

Not sure what that amateur would do but DENIM would have LANE all lined up to pair with this D staff. That's called cost savings and an upgrade folks. Really any solid offensive coach that would keep our D staff. Bobby, Sumlin. Maybe Brohm. Hugh Freeze is available apparently. Lot of solid options to be had by a competent admin.

I’d take Lane in a heartbeat but the Boog Admin would never hire him. Sumlin is probably the best AU could do this year imo so I’m hoping Gus stays

Yeah we got a pretty good thing going here at least another year. I just lock the dude up to the toon of 6/$39M or whatever. SEC is trash can win 8-9+ a year with Gus even if he's not as good as he's shown the last month.

I just wish I had a job where I could be $hi++y for three straight years while making 4.5-5 million per, then have one good year and people would rush to give me a 20-50% raise.
You could be Kevin’s Sumlin. Spend a few years talking about “YESSIR” and swagcopter and walk away with a buyout that is equal to winning mega millions

It's retarded. Let him buy his contract out if he's not ok with the one he agreed to. There are plenty of good coaches available with much better resumes than Gus had when he arrived.

eh, yes but gus is in the top 20 in his field, like legitimately. we bitch about him because he's not top 5 and au should have a top 5 coach.

He's performed adequately 40% of his career at Auburn. I'd be hard pressed to throw ridiculous money at an employee with similar results.

if a ceo made you the most profitable company in the USA for 3 out of 10 years would you say he's a good ceo?

idk the answer about gus. He backed into the playoff with 2 losses here but I'm just playing devils advocate.

If Gus wins 3 National Championships in 10 years I'll get on my knees and blow him. I'm not sure what that has to do with his career at Auburn though.

How did you determine his “”Top 20” ranking? He’s 33-19 since he won the SECCG in 2013. And we’ve paid him right at 18 million dollars since that game.

I always thought he was a more ritart looking less ritart minded version of Gus.
Nah, dude doesn't know you have to run to win in the SEC. That's about as ritart as it comes, imo. He did figure out you have to play defense quicker than Gus though so probably a wash as far as program management standpoint.

Yeah. He put the clown suit on NICK though launching it downfield to hulking WRs. Obviously running not the same priority for him but their WRs were always superior to their RBs so made sense to throw it around.

Im kinda wishing this would happen. Bobby is a so much better than Gus it’s not funny. Pair him up with KEVIN and this D staff goodnight.

if AU is ever to hire Sweet Bobby, this would be the perfect scenario... even his strongest haters would have to admit he’s at the top of the list of best guys available at this point

there are too many corches to count who could win with this defense... I’ll give Gus credit for adding his name back to the list... and for continuity’s sake he’s earned himself a few years to see if he can develop Malik and Gatewood, and to see if he can replace Chip when he takes a head coaching job and keep things rolling...

but if he leaves, as long as we keep Steele, Rotnei, and T-Will... the choices of offensive head corches available are bountiful
