Huge matchup at the Clam. Hope our boys can get their minds right for this one cause I’m still in a deep state of anguish and sorrow over the Mac injury. Plus I’m annoyed just thinking about the stupid football related festivities.

I expect them to try to give us the ole "TamU" treatment but it will likely not be effective because the Bob's get selfish.Gonna need Heron, Harper, and Brown to play 30+ minutes each. All need to play well, stay out of foul trouble, and make some shots.
I imagine Bama comes in and tries to attack the paint with Sexton and Hall. It will be interesting to see how we guard them, especially when Spencer isn't on the floor. When he's out, we will have essentially a 5-guard lineup on the court and can do a lot of switching and perimeter defending to disrupt their ball screens and penetration. Still, this is a big task for us, given the lack of depth we have. We have to be efficient and make some timely shots to balance out the potential pitfalls of the defense.

Our guards are gonna need to stay in these guys faces on D, can't allow lots of open looks. And they don't have two dominant bigs like aTm. This could also be a game where we show a lot of full court zone pressure and drop back into that 1-3-1 for good stretches of the game to protect our guys a little.
Probably would, but may hurt us by allowing more offensive rebounds as wellWould playing zone against them be more beneficial? May help limit their bigs getting easy touches and drawing fouls; will also limit Sexton getting into the paint with ease. Add in the fact that Alabama is fairly average with the 3 ball, maybe even below average outside of Petty.

I hadn’t even thought about the trophy crap. Surely they call that off if the other team wins the Natty???
Horace...although i think Chuma will have more time there. So is it gonna be Chuma or Horace starting at the 5?

If we fire this coach, I will never watch another Au b-ball game again. He’s the best coach ever at AU, and idc what anyone else has to say about that. He’s so far above all coaches off the court.
I’d like to see more of it. If we were more comfortable in it could shade guys you want to take away. I feel like it wouldn’t be that bad for our rebounding. We aren’t gonna just body people off the glass anyway. Use our athleticism more for boards. The positives are it limits penetration and inside touches and potential for foul issues and allows them to settle for 3s, which they statistically are great at shooting. The negatives are the potential for offensive boards, poor defensive movement and rotations allowing easier perimeter looks, and less deflections and pressure causing fewer turnovers.
I think we will play some zone. I went back and watched most of the last game against them, and we went to the 1-3-1 on one possession. Petty hit a 3 from the top of the key, and we never showed that look again.
Triangle and two on Sexton and Ingram/Petty (switch that one back and forth for confusion), ftw. Switch back and forth between that and 1-3-1 at odd intervals to keep them off track. Switch it up when they pull the ball back out up top to reset their offense. Sprinkle a little 2-3 zone in occasionally. This type of scheming is what took my Autauga Generals to the Class 1A state finals my sophomore year. Finished with a record of 32-4 (all 4 losses to South Montgomery County Academy, all in overtime, all by two points), two regular season games, 1 area tournament game, and the state championship game. 20 years later and I’m still pissed about it. Anyway, we called this the Kamikaze defense. It was chaotic. We would also full court press and then fall into one of the above.

I have a total fancrush on him, but if he can leave and be a high draft pick as a SOPH under the tutelage of Bruce I'm all for it. Not sure there would be much better of a recruiting chip we could play (and we likely need one right now after all the FBI crap) than having Okeke end up being a stud that NBA squads want to get their hands on 12 months from now....if Bruce turns Chuma loose, i'm gonna be crushed when he leaves at the end of next season. crushed.
