Lets go ahead and get this one started. Toughest game left on our schedule according the math and metrics nerds.

NC St can score. Shoots the lights out from 3 and has a lot depth. Seem to get scoring from everyone.

I’ve not been pleased with the way the boogs have executed on O since the UW game. First half of Dayton was pretty good I guess.

Still, we have the better team and no reason we can’t walk out with a W.

Keys to victry: Defend the 3, rebound and make some shots for God sakes.

Could definitely be a rough one if shots aren't falling unless they are having the same problem. I expect another big game from Sweet Baby J and would really like for Dr Chuma to have a coming out party and boog all over them.

P.s. Wouldn''t hurt to see the 30+ point Bryce also and not the Bryce of the last outing.

That would be ideal. Looking at their roster they start 4 guards. Chuma should be able to abuse them if he asserts himself.

I’d like to think we can dominate them on the glass as well. Their starting C is some 6’8 surely unathletic chalkie.

Agree, especially on the rebounding part. I want to see some more aggressiveness from Mac on the boards. He’s seemed nonexistent rebounding lately. He has 5 total ORBs in the last 5 games and hasn’t had a game with more than 5 total RBs since the Duke game. I want to see Samir create and distribute more. I want to see Bryce penetrate more. I want to see Chuma be more assertive offensively. I want to see Danjel get some more run in a big game. We need him to get his legs ASAP.

They look like they play a very similar style to us from this 2 minute highlight. Not gonna lie. Just from an optics standpoint, I think we match up very well.

Yeah the best part of Bryce’s big game against Dayton was that he was magnificent taking it to the rim and finishing. Got to the line a bunch. Think he was like 4-5 from 2 that game. Of course I still very much enjoyed the 6 3s.

I’m still not sure on Samir. At the Clam he’s looked great but his handle and breaking down the D ability hasn’t impressed. In my mind he’d be a nice PG to complement Austin just cause he can make an entry pass. I like the thought of Samir, Bryce, Malik, Danjel, Austin as a group. Have a guy with length at PG that can make an easy post entry and then a bunch of shooters to make the D have to consider doubling Austin. I’d like to not have to play Jared 35+ mins a game. Or Bryce or anyone for that matter.

Love our effort on D but it seems to be a drain on our O. Gotta give our stud backcourt a little more rest. Maybe get in a zone here and there. Got plenty of length to be really effective in it at times.

Yeah, I think Bryce needs that confidence. Sometimes the best way to get it is to get an easy drive to the lane or get to the FT line. See the ball go in once or twice. Then, he can turn it loose. I'm hoping it was more of a fatigue issue with him Saturday night. Don't need his confidence shaken like has happened to him in the past.

I think Samir is too hesitant on the wing. I think Chuma is the same. Samir looks like he's too afraid to make a mistake and ends up forcing something and does make a mistake. IMO I think he could benefit from some on-ball screens that let him work the screen-and-roll and give him easier access to get into the lane. Or like you said, give him a few minutes a game as PG with the ball in his hands as the facilitator/creator. IMO that's his best role, but I'm not sure he knows the offense enough to run much besides a few sets and some freestyle/playground type stuff. I don't think playing the 3 suits him very well.

Agree on the effort. I like our occasional change to the 1-3-1/1-1-3 we get into. Seems like a good change-of-pace for us that can lead to a couple of quick turnovers and easy buckets. Bryce and Jared are averaging over 30 minutes per game. We need some guys to step up and be more consistent behind them so we aren't forced to play them so much. McCormick just isn't where he needs to be to run the offense without Bryce or Jared on the court. Getting Purifoy back into the swing of things could allow us to rotate Samir and Malik more with Bryce to give him a few breather. Gotta get to where a lineup without Bryce or Jared on the floor can still be productive on both ends. Right now, it's too inconsistent.

If they try to full-court press us all night like they've done in some of these videos, Harper's going to have a field day and we're going to get to play in transition all night.

NC State's SOS and Opponent Adjusted Offense/Defense numbers are atrocious.

SOS: 350
OppO (avg adjusted offensive efficiency): 353, which is dead last in NCAAB
OppD (avg adjusted defensive efficiency): 325

Our numbers are 136/179/112

So, we've played a much tougher schedule against much better offensive and defensive clubs.

Here was my take from watching the game the other night posted in the Non-Boog thread: It aligns with your ultimate knowledge.

The nc st game will be a fun one for sure. totally different game from what we saw last night. I watched them this weekend and they are a spitting imagine of what we like to do. They run and gun from three and play a mad defense that tries to turn you over. They put up 89 on a very good defensive squad in Penn St. They have not really played anyone this year. Whisky and they lost. Only beat St. Peiters by 30 or so. We will have to shoot much better to win. They play a 4 guard system. They did not look too big. Think I remember one chaulkie with a mini ponytail, or man bun or something that was a try-hard who played in the paint. Wiley will abuse him. Their guards are quick as shat and shot volume from behind the arc. Played at least 10 guys that I remember and all of them contributed. Don’t recall one single player dominating, but they all scored within the offense. Being on the road in that atmosphere is what worries me the most. We are better skilled/athletically at every position except maybe the 3. Would not suprise me if it winds up in the 90’s on both sides. Boogs learn from this last one and continue our path to glory.

Good points all around ITT. Very tough matchup. NC State averaged the 4th highest attendance in the NCAA last year at around 18k IIRC.

Playing in a tough environment, this would be a great time for us to utilize our size advantage to establish our post offense early. NCSU does not have anyone who can handle Wiley or Chuma in the paint. I'd also like to see us let Harper and/or Brown attack early as opposed to a late game switch if shots aren't falling. Start dominating the paint and we will get open looks on the outside.

On defense, I like how we matchup. We should be able to stifle them for stretches.

This game might be the best game of the regular season outside auburn arena. Hopefully Bryce pulls his head out of his ass in Raleigh.
He just scored 34 the game before last. Everyone has down games and he was due for one. We will definitely need him on his A game to have our best chance to win.

Does anyone know of a member of the boog beat that only covers hoops? Annoying getting all these huhthut updates in my social media stream.

Don’t think so. I’d be interested to see how much traffic they get on their basketball material that they publish. I imagine the demand isn’t enough to drive any basketball-only coverage.

they must get almost zero clicks from bball related material or something. I can understand that lazy site owners like JGT may not wanna go out of their comfort zone and start heavily covering hoops, but you'd think that free sites like al.com and the like would get some people on it if it was really worth it. Guess not. Kind of blows, but you'd think that as the program continues to get better, then the coverage will eventually come as well.

Really interested to see how we look tonight. Road games haven't been strong so far. Plus we're coming off 3 really bad halfs by our high standards offensively. I always expected a rough patch of play with adding Wiley/Purifoy and losing Mustapha. Was always going to be a weird spot when we were figuring things out. Now the question is how long does it last and how do we come out of it.

The matchup tonight is tough, but seems like one that is better than facing some Wisconsin type slow down/ugly up the beautiful game squad. At least NCSU wants to play ball and not sit on it. Could be just what we need to snap out of our brief slump and put together a good overall effort. God help the team that sees us come out with Bryce and Harper both playing their best, Wiley eating up the paint and Chuma being the future NBA player that we know he can be. Ready to see these guys Boog out.

It’s unfortunate wading through all this worthless BS when we got the HYGs going in a big one tonight. Case in point:

WTF is this trash?

Anyway I shouldn’t waste space in this thread. Gametime is quickly approaching. Ready to get this W.

Really hoping NCSt tried to full court pressure Jared. I think we will tear them apart if they do. Also want to see if Wiley can have a breakout game. Don’t really think they have a matchup for him on either end.

This is a big test for sure. I think our guys will rise to the occasion. In order to avoid the slow start offensively if shots are not falling, I would love to see us impose our will on them inside early. They do not have anyone who can match up with Wiley and or with the athleticism to stop Chuma in the paint if we commit to feeding them the ball. Mix in some Harper dribble drives and we can get the offense rolling without needing to hit 3s.

Agreed on Wiley. This would be a great opportunity to get him a lot of touches in the paint. I think they would have to double him to stop him which would get us wide open looks for other guys on the perimeter.

Y’all are great to watch post. The excitement is great. I don’t think you will have any problem beating nc state tonight
