++++++Mizzou vs Boogs Official Game Thread++++++

Well I think everyone knows what’s coming now. As the Bridgestone fills more & more everyday, the legions of fans not O&B will be heckling & booing these Boogs of ours. That’s just what Bluebloods are in for, and I’m sure the HYGS will embrace it for what it is. It’s lonely at the Top.

Strong win. Big time game from the bench. With Chuma and Harper in early foul trouble and getting nothing from Bryce or Jared in the first half, the bench carried us. Horace had a crazy good game. JVon did some really good things. Danjel was surprisingly aggressive and productive. Samir didn’t Samir.

And like we’ve been doing, we are handling these close games well. We answer runs and make baskets on possessions where we have to have one, we don’t freak out when we get down, and we’re adjisting when the 3 isn’t falling. I like how this team is playing. It isn’t a solid pretty when we aren’t BOOGIN, but it’s solid, winning basketball.

Did anybody else pay attention to what Dykes said when talking about Wiley? Even though I lean towards agreeing with those coaches he was talking about, I hate it for the kid that the season has played out like it has. Saw a tweet from Wolk or somebody that said he still appeared to be limping today? I'm not there so I can't say but did anybody see him and notice the limp?

Not pretty at times, but a nice W all the same. Mizzou played great with 15 3s and Geist nearly unstoppable at times. Lots of other guys were also knocking down shots for them which made this a tough out. With Chuma in early foul trouble and Bryce and Jared ice cold in the first half, we did a great job to get to the half with a lead. Solid second half of play to get a lead and then answer their run and rebuild the 2-3 possession lead. After the last 3 years, we needed to get this W and carry forward our momentum as one of the hottest teams in the country. This one likely locks up a 5 seed for us as well.
Horace had a monster game. Double double (11 points, 10 boards) with 4 blocks and 4 steals. He saved us in the 1st half when our key guys were all struggling. Awesome to see a senior step up huge in his final SEC tourney.

Bryce was ice cold before the half with zero points. Didn't let it phase him and finishes the game with 17 points and 5 treys after the half. He passed 2 guys on the all time SEC list to move into #4 all time by himself. Appreciate every game we have left with this guy. We are watching the final games of a legendary career.

Danjel gave us a great game today. Been saying all year there would likely be a game where he played a big role for us and today was his best game yet. Nothing huge on the stat sheet, but he played a lot minutes when we needed him with Chuma on the bench. His play in the 2nd half was particularly impressive in one stretch where he was all over the glass and dishing assists to his teammates. Extremely unselfish play. Also knocked down a 3 and had a nice finish on a back cut.

Samir had a really pretty drive late in the game. Also knocked down a big 3 when we needed it to answer a Mizzou run.

Malik had a very efficient day scoring. 4/6 with 2 treys for 11 points. Really nice finish and 1 on a drive late that was big to keep us in the lead.

10 points gives us the max benefit from a net perspective and its a quad 2 win. We shot 35% from 3 and Bryce finished 5/10 which should have his confidence established for tomorrow. Biggest concern is Chuma's foot. I assume its nothing serious or else Bruce would have pulled him late. Need him 100% tomorrow.

USCe is a bad matchup for us, but they are also a mediocre team that has not beaten anyone with a pulse this year away from Columbia. I suspect Wiley is going to be available and I think he can help us a lot if he can give us 10-15 minutes of work against Silva. He is one of the most foul prone players in the country so it would be huge if we could get Chuma matched up with him early in the paint and let him draw some fouls. Getting Silva in foul trouble would give us a huge advantage. Mizzou drilled USCe by 15 2 weeks ago so our guys need to go into the game with the confidence of being the better team.

Sandy he’s made of glass so it would t surprise me

Ho Daddy with one of the better Ho Daddy type games of his career. Blocks, steals, rebounds and even got us 11 points. He was everywhere.

Danjel was driving me crazy in the 1st half with some lapses defensively and just being kinda in the way a lot offensively, but that 2nd half gives me hope that he can help us a ton. Really, really solid half from him.

Looks like Chuma got a little strain or something. I'm guessing it's nothing big. They'd have been very careful with him right there so probably just some tweak or a little bruise that won't hamper him tomorrow. But I'll be on pins and needles till I see him run the court a few times without pulling up.

Was this game another "ALL TIMER" for the "best" PG in the SEC and AU history? 1 of 6 from the field.. 66% from the FT line.. 27 minutes. He did have 5 assists and also 2 turnovers..

I noticed no kind words for J'Von McCormick.. I am sure you left out his praise due to a minor oversight on your part. He followed up his 75% from the field shooting percentage last game with a 60% from the field shooting percentage today! He gave us another strong 15 minutes.

Jared's post season slump continues from last year but I think he gets things turned around tomorrow.

**** off

Your trolling is so freaking tired. You cannot wait for Harper to have bad games so you can bash him. Go to hell

Jeramye, all I ask is for honest analysis but you guys can’t give it, AT ALL, for fear it may some how align with my previous posts. How @DM8 goes through the entire roster and leaves out JVon is mind bottling. I want JH to always play well. You can ask @WDE_Tarp I am an AU fan first, but the greatest PG in AU history and best in the SEC are claims people keep making over and over, not me. Last game @DM8 said that performance was an “ALL TIMER” for Harper. Was this game as well? J’Von has earned his PT. The more he plays the better he will get. I told all of you he needs to play a lot of we are going to make a run. He got his 15 minutes and we won. I am sure Jared will ball out next game. He is due.

Blocking your agenda based BS. Tried for months to not be that guy but Jesus man...you made a day of a postseason win all about you. Unreal.

@demeat, what are your thoughts on Bruce's basketball knowledge? I ask because he said at the half that his two best players, Harper and Chuma, were on the bench too much in the first half.

Bruce knows his b-ball… Jared is good, but vanishes in the tourney it appears.. I also have studied the hell out of his stats.. He has 10 games with 3 or more turnovers... We lost 6 of those games. Some of the games he scores the most points, were also games he had the most turnovers. For instance, LSU, many here say that was one of his best games. 25 points... But then he had 5 turnovers. Against Ole Miss and Mississippi State, he had 6 turnovers in each game.. but did have 10 points and 15 points in each game with even 7 assists in one of them.

If you objectively look at stats only, J'Von shoots better from the field in both 2's and 3's.. He played 17 minutes at NC State and had 14 points. That is when I was like "this guy is for real". Now he is back to that 15 minute per game mark the past 2 games and is looking sharp. When he plays 10 minutes or more we have only 2 losses on the season.

Chuma is our best player. Bryce to me has been under valued this year IMO. When he is hot, he can simply take over the game. Like today's second half. He can just turn it on. He plays good defense. Earlier this year I wasn't impressed with Bryce but was impressed with Harper. As the year went on, I became more impressed with Bryce and less with Harper. Harper at times reluctant to feed the hot hand and always looks to "get his". I hate this the most. Chuma on that epic game a few games back was calling for the ball wide open and Jared would pop some NBA 3 and miss it and I am like WHY????? He did the same with Bryce vs. Kentucky (I think) too. He will try to shoot his way out of a rut while guys around him are hitting. A further look at the numbers, Jared isn't a very good shooter at all really. A mid 30% type guy, but his points often come from the free throw line. This is one of his most valuable traits. He was 15/16 from the line vs. UAB. So of his 31 points, 15 came from free throws. He was 7/19 that game from the field. This was the game I questioned why our PG shot the ball 19 times. That is a crazy high number for him. For fact purposes, J'Von is 55% from the field. A very solid 42/77 including today's game. His FT% isn't great but he shoots so few I feel the sample size is almost too small. I think that would improve for sure given more attempts.

Anyway, it is time for Jared to wake up from this post season haze he is in. Today was bad, but I expect better tomorrow. He is far better than we saw today.

War Eagle!! Finally got home and got to watch the game. Probably be in a depo for tomorrow’s game, too, and flying out at 8:30 tomorrow night so might not get to watch it at all if I don’t get back to my apartment till 5 or after.
Y’all pull them through. If we make it to Sunday, I may be day tripping it to the Music City.
Now back to work - another 5 to 6 hours tonight.

Jared’s a 38% 3-point shooter this year. Career 36%. Those are solid numbers. This whole angle is just tired and ridiculous. Plenty of reasonable, knowledgeable basketball observers have tried to talk with you about that, but your dislike for Harper and his game prevent you from seeing everything he brings to the table.

I said he is good. Other say he is the best in SEC and greatest in history of AU. He is good. Leave it at that. I don’t dislike him. If there is something you disagree about in my stats feel free to comment. I know his impact on rebuilding AU and am grateful. I am sure he will step up tomorrow.

You hold a grudge against him. You point out every single flaw in his game. You’re touting JVon McCormick as a better option at PG. You’re comparing McCormick’s stats to Harper’s and trying to make the argument that JVon is the better option. Your stats conveniently left out that Harper has a better assist to turnover ratio, that JVon has had multiple games this year without an assist, and that Harper being a 38% 3-point shooter “isn’t very good at all really.”

Whether you like it or not, Harper will go down as one of the greatest (arguably the greatest) PG to play at Auburn.

You are a deranged lunatic. Seek help. No one gives a shit here about your obsession with trashing Jared. Don't rice it up here like you do elsewhere.

I called for J’Von to start over Jared? I said J’Von was better? Oh goodness, please forgive me for leading you on to form a false conclusion. I am pointing out the more McCormick plays, the more we win. I wanted his role expanded and it has been as of late. I feel like we may be in good hands with him should Jared move on. There are some aspects of each players games that are better than the other’s. McCormick is peaking right now for sure and is building confidence. Do I think he should “start” over Jared? NO. He just needs to keep doing what he is doing. Played 15 good minutes 2 games in a row. We should all celebrate this. Now if Jared comes back next year, he will have to play a good bit at the 2. With Bryce gone this will be just fine.

Sorry you lack critical thinking. Moving on. I will not tell J’Von of the slight you gave him.
