******Official Boog BBall 'Crootin Thread*******

Gang, not gonna know what to do with myself when the reality sets in when we have a handful of studs representing the Boogs in the NBA. Chuma not there yet bc of the injury. But we could have a real decent number of players in the league in just a few years

I'm not sure I've actually accepted that Sharife is coming and I can't even fathom yet that we might land Jalen. My mind shifts back to the days we felt blessed at AU hoops to get a guy ranked like 147.

It's never gonna be like UK or duke or anything. But it's gonna take some getting used to even if Bruce brings in just 1 one and done every year. I'm all for it of course but it'll just be a drastic change to what we're all used to

That 247 HYG stalker seems to think there’s a decent chance Jalen goes pro. My sleuthin and boog honkin tells me he’d make a lot more coin doing whatever gets him drafted higher in a year.

His boy RJ Hampton thats playing in New Zealand is projected 13th. That spot would be worth about $20M less over the rookie deal than say the 3rd pick which just so happens to project as the young boog phenom Sir Isaac.

yeah. Hopefully Bruce is able get some statistics nerds to put together a good power point that overwhelmingly shows the long term gains of playing just one year in college vs getting a tiny bag and no exposure in New Zealand. It just doesn't make sense for a top dude to go over there when you can play in the 1st or 2nd best conference and let ESPN lick your nuts all season and do your marketing for you.

Please God Okoro get better and go off into the top three.

I mean Jalen has stated several times in several different articles he’s not considering going overseas. Such a weird situation there.

quick interview with signee C-Moore, there are some cool nugs.
***THANKS KEEF

Chris Moore should be a big part of Auburn's basketball future. The touted 6-feet-7, 220-pound power-forward signed with Auburn last November over programs such as Memphis and Arkansas and is the No. 101 overall recruit nationally in the 247Sports rankings. This season, he's averaging a double-double in points and rebounds while leading his West Memphis (Ark.) High team -- which many consider to be the best in Arkansas -- to an 18-4 record with games still to be played.

Auburn Undercover caught up with Moore to get his thoughts on a range of subjects.

AUBURN UNDERCOVER: Let's start with Auburn -- the Tigers are 22-3 ... what are your impressions of the team this season?

MOORE: I’m very impressed with the way the season is going now because it’s like we don’t have the best talent but we play the hardest, and you know playing in the SEC -- the best league arguably in college basketball -- is very amazing how we’re still competing at the highest level. Honestly, I could say this year's team is making it harder for the team next year to live up to these expectations they’ve set.

AUBURN UNDERCOVER: Who is your favorite player in the sport of basketball to watch and why?

MOORE: My favorite player to watch is LeBron James. It's just the way he dissects the game piece by piece and not only using talent but also brains to beat/wear out (his) opponents. Also, the taking care of his body part ... bringing in to institute the actual meaning of “Your Body Is Your Temple” ... he the exact example of a model athlete.

AUBURN UNDERCOVER: Which Auburn player do you look forward to playing with the most when you get there next season?

MOORE: Umm, hopefully if he doesn’t leave this year Isaac Okoro because I watch him play and I see where our games complement each other well on the court. Having two dogs on the floor who are willing to get the job done by any means necessary is something scary. I think about if I had the opportunity to play with him.

AUBURN UNDERCOVER: What are your stats this season and how do you think you've played?

MOORE: I’m not aware of my stats. I try my best not to keep up with them but what I can tell you is that I’m very close to scoring 2,000 career points and I average a double-double.

AUBURN UNDERCOVER: What do you do best as a player and why?

MOORE: I get the job done by any means necessary. I’m the player you can put in any situation and give any role to and I’ll succeed and do my best at it.

AUBURN UNDERCOVER: What do you need to work on the most before you get to Auburn this summer?

MOORE: Probably just being more confident in the talent I have that nobody sees. I rely on too much of what I’m used to doing and not the new things I learn ... being afraid of making mistake. So just being confident in my abilities that I have nobody knows about.

AUBURN UNDERCOVER: What kind of relationship have you built with Sharife Cooper, Auburn's 5-star point guard signee?

MOORE: It’s a good relationship. I try not to talk much because I know we're both on a mission in high school ball and don't want one of us to lose focus. But we have talked in the past about the future.

AUBURN UNDERCOVER: What kind of person is Shrive -- is he quiet, loud, shy, funny? How would you describe his personality?

MOORE: He is a laid-back chill dude and serious about his game and a real competitor.

AUBURN UNDERCOVER: Which recruits do you think Auburn will add to the 2020 class?

MOORE: Hopefully we get Jalen Green, Cliff Omoruyi, and Greg Brown. I think that’ll be a team you’ll see in the championship winning it all.

what does that even mean?

what does that even mean?

probably some post moves or extended shooting range that he’s been working on, but just not confident enough to unleash in games yet

he just needs the confidence to put it into live game action and then everyone else will finally see it too

Who replaces Wiley and Mac next year?

Stretch and grad transfer TBD... I guess Cliff would be ideal, we’d have 40 minutes of defending, rebounding, shotblocking, and bleeding on the court (for Denim) - but I worry a tad about both being relatively unpolished offensively

you’d think with Sharife, Jalen, and Jimmy Chitwood scoring won’t be as much of an issue - but I’d be ok with a more veteran guy essentially ring-chasing to come Boog for a year

scratch all that if Kuminga reclassifies... give me Cliff or any other guy who is physically ready to bang and defend and doesn’t need or want the ball at all

I think you nailed it. We may have so much offense at the other spots we can afford to have a 5 whose focus is defense and rebounding. Any guy who is good on the boards will have a shot to score 10 per game cleaning up misses. Hopefully we can find a grad transfer 5 who would like to make a title run. Some experience would be nice at the 5 given how young we will be everywhere else.

How about the hypothetical of Jalen Green signing with Auburn, and then on the first day of classes, we get reports that he isn’t on campus. Come to find out, he changed his mind and went overseas

I just operate under the assumption that it’ll end in disappointment until I see us cutting down the nets next April. Such is boog fandom.

And another. I'd be interested to know what suddenly prompted all these guys to project him to us. Are they all following the lead of one another or is there some new info they're aware of that isn't public? I gueses it could be that Memphis is tanking and we appear to obviously be his best choice based on the criteria he has recently set out.

any interesting nuggets in here?
To add to the above summary, Auburn is optimistic on Green. Have 2 spots now and likely 3 with Okoro leaving. Want to fill those from the group of Green, Omoruyi, Brown, Kuminga and Sanogo. Sotto is off the board because he plans to stay in the 2021 class. Backup plans are Cardwell and Jayden Stone.

Dear lourde, if we get even 2 out of our main group of targets, we will be absolutely filthy next year.

Would hate to see him go but wouldn’t cry over it
Exactly what I said. I honestly think I’d rather see AF go over him, but at least Flanny will play some D. Oh well. We’re in on so many big time recruits I feel like we’re gonna’ be okay regardless of the attrition we have.
