******Official Boog Recruiting Thread******

Good get. Carnell told my buddy that he is a beast.

Let it be known, Auburn is said to be recruiting this guy as a guard.

I guess we’re going with the ole strategy of not signing tackles at all.

I think this kid can play anywhere on the field. According to Uncle Keef, he measured in at 6'4" and almost 300 lbs. But the most impressive part was his arm length measured in at 35 inches. To put that in perspective, the two OTs taken in the 1st round this year had an arm length of 34 inches and Orlando Brown was also 35 inches.

This kid is about to get a lot more exposure playing at IMG this year, so could have the potential to really move up in the rankings.

On a somewhat related note I saw some dick knob recently predicted Cooper and Okoro to go to Rutgers. Not like I’m freaking out or anything but it does bother me a little. I have a fragile psyche when it comes to the next generation of Bruce’s Beauties.

I have no clue who that guy is or if he is right or wrong, but dude has a whopping 3,070 followers on Twitter. I'd need someone important to change their to match his to make me worried.

Auburn appears to have ramped up its recruitment of Travon Walker. In two sports.

Walker, a 6-feet-5.5, 275-pounder from Thomaston (Ga.) Upson-Lee, is an elite athlete. In football, he is a 5-star defensive tackle. But he’s also a standout power-forward on the basketball court who averaged a double-double last year.

Auburn’s message to Walker: The Tigers want him in both sports.

According to Walker, who participated in a basketball team camp over the weekend at Auburn, Tigers basketball coach Bruce Pearlwas impressed and let him know he’d take him.

“He said he knows I love football and play basketball too, but said I really have potential in basketball," Walker said. "He said I’m one of those big guys, that if I develop and learn how to dribble I could be a Charles Barkley type of guy. He said I’m that athletic and if I come there, I could play both. He said if I didn’t already have a football offer he would give me that. He said I didn’t really need one (from him) since I already have one. He’s been watching me since the team camp last year. He saw me have a good game against (Kentucky signee and former Auburn commit) E.J. Montgomery.”

Auburn football coaches also have told Walker he could play both sports, Walker said. The two staffs seem to be working together to land Walker, the No. 28 overall football recruit in the industry generated 247Sports Composite.

Playing both sports in college “would be something I would look into,” Walker said. “It’s something that I'd have to consider if it was too much to do. It’s not easy to do.”

Walker said if he played both sports in college, it might just be few a couple seasons. At that point, he would determine with the coaching staffs which one gave him the best long-term future.

Lately, Auburn’s football staff has increased its communication with Walker, he said. Defensive line coach Rodney Garner was by his school in the spring and the two have talked more of late.

“I like Auburn — and have really been liking Auburn,” Walker said. “It’s just I really haven’t had much of a relationship like we should have had. That’s something that's coming along. They’re starting to get in contact with me more.”

The 247Sports Crystal Ball has 10 projections for Walker — all to Georgia. Walker said he has no leader but noted that Georgia, Clemson and South Carolina are the programs to watch.

As for Auburn?

“This past spring, I wasn’t thinking anything about Auburn,” Walker said. “But now they’re continuing to fight for me and continue to try to get me on campus.”

According to Walker, Garner and Co. would like him to visit in late July.

“I think it’s July 28,” Walker said. “Me and my family are going to talk about it.”

This should have happened long ago. Getting Bruce and Steven involved with 5* linemen could be a game changer for Boog athletics.

That reminds me when are we gonna stop BSing and let Prince Tega hoop?

Been a while since I surveyed this, but aren't athletes that are on football and another sports scholarship count against the football scholarship limit only?

This guy could count like a walk-on for ole Bruce's bois.

Yes. Just like I image Noah Iggy and Anthony Schwartz are both count towards the football scholly limit and are basically free track and field guys

5* OT Dobbs just committed to Michigan State.

JB Grimes continues his complete sabotage of our program.

I actually like the OT we got a commitment from on Sunday. Will be curious to see how much he moves up in the rankings (if he does) playing his Sr year at IMG.

But we need another 1-2 OTs to go on top of that, and Im not sure where they will/would come from

My favorite part about the OT from Sunday was that he has a pulse and his listed position is “OT”. First time in many years we’ve heard that with Grimes as OL coach.

On the other hand, getting excited at all about a 3* OT we get a commitment from after Plans A-R tell us to fvck off is a sad testament to what Grimes has done to our expectations... and soon to be our OL play.

Which QBs have we recruited the last 8-9 years with similar hype that Nix is creating in our fan base? Frazier? White? Pike? Gatewood? I know Malik was different because he got the later offer. It’s just so bizzare to me how fans continue to crown these kids before they show up. Maybe Nix is the one.

Stan White?

Frazier had a lot of hype. He had some post-season accolades too and could have gone anywhere. I wish his timeline would have been different here. Wish he could have been a 2012 graduate and redshirted that awful Loeffler year.

Kodi Burns had a shit ton of hype. Probably more than Nix

I remember him having hype but I don't remember him having #1 in the country hype.

That whole recruitment was frustrating. It was between him, Cam Newton, and the kid that went to Georgia Tech for who were taking and we chose Kodi.

I always assume that Gus is gonna fail to develop QBs or ruin them. I want to see if Jodi make do anything with all the receiver talent he's brought in.

As far as national recruiting buzz, yeah I don’t think Kodi was as hyped. But as far as fan base hype goes, he was thought to be the savior and fan pressure even got him a start over Brandon Cox which was ridiculous

Someone else mentioned Kodi starting a game in 2007 recently. You remember who it was against? I’m drawing a blank.

If Im not mistaken, Scout had him as a 5 star QB.

From his bio:

2007 -- Saw action in nine games ... Made collegiate debut against Mississippi State, rushing for 87 yards on 22 attempts, including a 1-yard touchdown sneak ... Also was 8-for-12 for 65 yards and one interception against the Bulldogs ... Made first career start against New Mexico State, completing 1-of-5 passes including a 58-yard TD strike to Rod Smith in the first quarter ... Was the first Auburn true freshman quarterback to start in a game since Gabe Gross in 1998

Kodi Burns and Kiehl Frazier are two guys who I believe had chances to be decent quarterbacks if not for absolutely awful timing at the most important parts of their career.

I know that's a steaming pile of take.

I was a regular on TOS when Kodi came around. After him and Tony Franklin helped us win an OT game vs Clemson to end his FR season in the ATL, one of the Scout board legends, Mark Green, predicted that Kodi with Tony Franklin would take over the league in 2008. He had about 8 of our offensive starters making All SEC that season. I’m not sure we converted 8 third downs after two series against Vandy around game 5. Brutal year for our offense.

I can buy Kodi Burns. Frazier was one of the most mentally weak QBs I’ve ever seen though. Maybe a different coach could have figured out how to make him tick, but he had zero intangibles from my perspective

A lot of people thought the same things about Jason Campbell until Petrino and ultimately Borges came along.

It's a spicy hot take for sure, and I'm not sure I can ever explain why I feel that way. Maybe its just not being able to let go of my belief in the hype.

Frazier, I think was rated higher nationally hype wise.

I remember telling Jay Leigh that’s Burns would end up at WR and he thought I was crazy. I never thought Burns was a SEC qb.

I also thought JJ would drag his dick all over the SEC. I was wrong on that one.

I should never make fun of anybody’s predictions after I picked us to go 6-6 in 2013 and 10-2 in 2015.
