I gotta think Gus is a Charlie Brown knock off. Lovable loser & good guy that does just well enough to keep around, but an idiot just the same.
Fvck the lovable loser part. I wanna punch a puppy every time I look at him.I gotta think Gus is a Charlie Brown knock off. Lovable loser & good guy that does just well enough to keep around, but an idiot just the same.

Meanwhile, across the state....This is how stupid and stuck in his ways Gus is. He wants an X that can stretch the field vertically. This is why Sammy, Ricardo and Slayton all played so much even though they were notorious for dropping balls. They were big tall WRs (which is typically what you want at X) but they were also his fastest WRs in all of those years. So instead of modifying his offense slightly, he sticks his two best WRs in the same position and rotates them based on what he wants out of a particular play call (which every decent defensive mind is going to pick up on). I hate him so much gang. Even though I have tried to get on board and enjoy the season, I've already started envisioning dream scenarios where we lose to Arkansas (very very unlikely) and fire him before we get off the field.
By the way most coaches would be absolutely fine with Williams being their X WR. He isn't a burner but he is plenty fast and can go up and get the ball. This is why most coaches want a tall X WR, so he can go up and get the ball. Your X WR is going to get the most one on one matchups. Gus wants both the ability to go up and get the ball AND to be fast enough to burn 90% of the DBs they face. Which is great when you can find one, but most coaches are going to choose a guy with great hands over a burner.

It's one of those things where obviously I am glad we fixed it, but WTF took so long? How do you make it an off-season of game planning and not think "hey I should get my two best WRs on the field together"?
