OT: AD Search

Yep. And there is no chance you’d pull him from Clemson right now. He’s got it going and he would have no reason to leave

My point remains that the bench is thin and that the elite ones are already in locations they aren’t moving from (unless they lose a couple of stud coaches and see a good exit ramp at the perfect time)

I like how Senior Associate AD at one of the biggest athletic departments in the country counts as no experience. Lol. Size matters. A Senior Associate AD at Clemson or Alabama would be more prestigious than Austin Peay’s AD.

AULL IN FOR GREENE!

How about president Leath in all this?

-Scraps JJ's dumb additional Jumbotron plan
-Gets JJ out, also notes that there is tremendous waste in the department
-Leaks get out about Pearl, but he navigates the rocky waters to keep Pearl and the team is off to a roaring start
-Hires a studly AD
-Got a new provost in there for some new blood
-new CIO

Guy is giving an enema to AU and I like it

Finebaum asked Barrett Sallee about our new Stud Pony AD!

Said his peers say good things but would have to have some concern with hiring and firing of coaches since he has never done it. They did say a Greg Byrne had nice things to say about him and Greg wasn’t the most experienced guy when he was hired.

War Eagle!

Boogs went with a guy named All En sorry it just hit me.

Just what happens when you try to throw out the race card as the only reason a truly viable candidate was hired. And then you compare him to a former president solely because that president happened to be black. Woof. What an embarrassing turn of events for @demeat.

Don’t be small minded you fuggin idiot. Everyone applauded the hire on the Bunker because he was black and an outsider. Are you willing to say ALL THINGS BEING EQUAL that a white fella named “Bill Smith”, a 2 year AD from Buffalo also gets the job? Do you even politic bro? It is not racist if Leath and co thought, “you know, having a young African American in charge of our AD will really show the change of direction we are making and that the good ole boy Network is dead, we need to show we are a forward thinking University”. When somebody has such little experience it is okay to look at other factors.

If you are too immature to have a conversation without yelling “racist” then I can’t help you. Plus you know I am anti Sessions and Roy Moore and other backward ass white dudes that hold Alabama back. So AG is a breath of fresh air.

It was a ballsy hire and it is getting great press.

And, the lady that got the job at Virginia did have more experience.

I don't think she had ever been an AD before had she? If not, how did she have more experience?

Because she was at a major SEC school and also Vandy for 13 or 14 years. “As UGA’s deputy director of athletics, she was responsible for the day-to-day operations of the department’s $127 million budget, while overseeing the school’s football and women’s basketball programs in addition to numerous other duties.” It was like Georgia hiring Kirby Smart vs getting the HC from a small school. On paper alone she is more qualified IMO than our new AD. When you are that high up at a major SEC school, I would say you have experience. For curiosity, Buffalo’s athletic department budget is 32 million.

All that said, everyone here said being an AD at AU isn’t that hard and he is a good fundraiser. So I now think we will be fine.

Guy clearly understands style. Wouldn’t surprise me if his first order of business is to try and get us out of that Under Armor deal bc their shit is so ugly
They need to add another NBA superstar and step their shoe game up. Maybe he can give them some pointers. Otherwise I don’t think their gear is that bad but I’m just a white dude that likes their golf shirts.

I have done extensive research on this hire (looked at his picture on the internet) and I am pumped.

AU56 taking it not being Tim Jackson pretty hard.
AU56 is the worst, so anything he doesn't like makes me happy. I was leaning towards signing Smoke over Joiner and then I saw that he really wanted Smoke, so I was ecstatic that we signed Joiner.

AU56 is on my list of Top 10 worst epersonas in Bunk history.

Slightly worse than Tallassee, imo

Forgot about Tallassee, but I agree he is the worst.

Did he just say “University of Auburn”? Please confirm these rumors from the Bunker.

He did, but he also said “Auburn University” in the same breath about 5 times. He was actually saying “at the University” and then as a secondary thought, just threw “at Auburn” on the end to once again emphasize “Auburn.”

Sounds like he bossed the presser. U of Arben is typically reserved for only the bluest of blue chip studs and Allen fits the mold.
He had a few awkward moments but that was mostly due to his being unfamiliar with AU. And in my book, that is A O K. Thought he did very well considering. He reminds me of my former section chief. And that is definitely a good thing. Knows how to play the politics, but make no mistake, he is his own man. And my section chief loved to say, and meant it every time, “do not ever mistake my kindness for weakness.” This guy, to me, exudes that philosophy. So far, I’m ALL EN ($1 to @Fillup Marschell).

Says all the right things, which isn't at all shocking.

I do like the "I'm gonna shut up and listen" philosophy when walking in somewhere completely new where you have no connections. That's the right way to go IMO. Learn about everything before you start making big plans.

He's walking into a tough spot. Football coach is locked in for a while but not popular in the kind of way where he will keep getting support without some really outstanding seasons. Mens hoops looks great but has some unfinished issues that will hang over our heads until we're completely past everything. Women's hoops is a joke. Baseball seems possibly on track but softball is touch because the standard got raised and now its an entirely new crew.

My biggest early hope for him is that after 6 months or so of "listening" and learning about AU he presents us with a coherent vision for what JHS is gonna look like 5 years from now. Not a patchwork of small but expensive updates that don't really change the dynamics of the place at all, but an actual large scale plan. Hell I'd rather that plan be "we're not going to do anything because schools have gotten crazy with this stuff and we can spend $300 million in much better ways" than what we've been doing. We've had zero vision or long term outlook under Jacobs, just costly and ugly changes to make it look like he was proactive.

my favorite style of manager....fair, doesn't think their job description is to be a dick just because they are in charge, if you do good work you get to have a nice, fun, enjoyable boss. But if you screw up or if you suck at the job you are going to see the other side and it's going to be rough.

IMO that's the way it should always be. Too many bosses either try to be your friend all the time or try to be a jerk all the time. Neither works over the long haul.

I worry about people that aren't a little nervous in moments like that. It's a big deal and should be handled as such

Does anybody not listen to press conferences because you like making up how their voice sounds in your head and you don't want it to be spoiled?

For years I thought Gus Malzahn sounded like Professor Frink from the Simpsons until last year.

When I read your posts, all I can hear is John B. McLemore.

Why in God’s name is Bruce and AU b-ball being discussed on the same day we announce our new AD by Leath??? I am so rustled by this. Then he just dumps this issue on AG’s lap. Such BS. We are supposed to look to the future and on the first day he lets us know NADAG has to look to the past to find out if he will keep CBP in the future.

It is like he is out to sabotage our own damn team.

Listening to AD Greene now on Finebaum.

CAG sounds like a nice guy but almost came off like he was reading from a quotation book. Greene is green. Would have been nice to hear some more substance. But given as he doesn’t know anything about AU it is understandable. Ended with a War Eagle. That was great. Vocally he sounds like he could be playing sports for Auburn.

Congrats Allen! Good Luck. Leave Bruce alone!!

I think he just wanted attention.

Not that I wanted attention but am so damn jaded and always see some ulterior motive with those in power. And no I am not a frigging “racist”. Maybe my love for conspiracy theories got the best of me.

I don’t think you are a racist for the record.
