As much as I want this to be true, Asa only shows up on the participation chart for 4 games right now. No Arky, no UT. If anyone wants to rewatch the Arkansas game, feel free.

So I have no idea if he played a real snap or not, I briefly tried to browse through to see if I saw him on either of the kick returns because that would have been my best guess on what special teams he would play. Anyway, I don't know if this counts or not but he definitely was on the field for a snap. Unfortunately this play was blown dead due to delay of game because...Gus. So we know there was no conscious effort to keep him out of the game, and we were fully prepared to burn his redshirt to throw him a swing pass.

well, it's a bit of a blessing in disguise anyways. As we need the young man to get as much experience as he can get. Can't think of the last time AU started a RS Senior at runningback. So a redshirt is rather worthless anyways.
I agree. The laughable part to me though is that if it’s true, it seems like they sat him against UT thinking they could still redshirt him, playing Malik Miller instead. Then later they find out he should have played anyways because his redshirt was gone.

That’s the worst part if it really went down that way.

Side note: I feel decently confident that Chip is leaking this info to JGT and the other writers cause he’s pissed at Gus. No actual knowledge that it’s happening but a strong hunch

yeah. Redshirting talented runningbacks is just dumb anyways. Bama doesn't do it and they always have a massive stable of them. UGA isn't doing it and they're building a similar stable. Not sure why Gus would even consider it when AU actually needs Asa given Boobie's injuries. It's just dumb dumb dumb dumb dumb on both accounts.

And yeah. Gus has shown no remorse in kind of throwing chip under the bus for the offense so it wouldn't surprise me if Chip's fighting back a little by leaking stuff.

Is JGT correct on this?

Auburn only shows Asa playing in 4 games

He probably has played in 5 games but AU is just pretend that it’s 4. Seems like something that’s totally on the honor system. Can’t see the ncaa actually combining through every single snap of every single game of every team just to make sure a couple of freshmen didn’t get any extra snaps.

I'm pretty sure that all NCAA henchmen read the GREG, so there's that. Hey @Mark_Womack. Kindly KMA

Oh, I definitely could see someone turning in Auburn (or any team) to the NCAA if they question something like this out of spite.

Possibly. It’s also possible that the AU compliance guys phoned up the ncaa when they realized what happened and apologized and just asked for some leniency with this being the first year of the rule. Idk. A stupid goof like this really shouldn’t cost a kid a potential year of school
