Really bored at the office right now. So, I'm looking at the basketball depth chart for the next 2-3 years. What's the feeling on Heron leaving early? He's looked like a very good player for 1.5 seasons, but is he a draftable guy? I know that was the hype. He kinda reminds me of some of those 4 year veteran guards you see in the NCAAT every year at places like Villanova or Michigan St.

Looking ahead to the roster for future seasons, we should be loaded with upperclassmen next year. Even if Wiley, Heron, and Purifoy leave/aren't allowed back, we should be a pretty good team. Without those three, our lineup next year looks something like this:

2018-2019
PG: Harper (Jr)/Mitchell (So)
SG: Brown (Sr)/Doughty (Jr)
SF: Dunbar (Sr)
PF: Murray (Sr)/Okeke (So)
C: Mac (Jr)/Spencer (Sr)

We will probably add a JUCO/Grad transfer and a late HS kid for depth and possibly 1-2 true transfer(s) to help with the 2019-20 team if god fits are available and depending on numbers. That '19-'20 roster looks kinda thin right now. I know the 2019 and 2020 recruiting classes are loaded, but we need to land a bunch of them to fill out the roster and all the holes that will be left or get 1-2 transfers.

2019-2020
PG: Harper (Sr)/Mitchell (Jr)
SG: Doughty (Sr)
SF: ???
PF: Okeke (Jr)
C: Mac (Sr)

Hindsight and all, missing on Garrison Brooks and Obiagu hurts now.

Nice breakdown. My spreadsheet is at the office but that looks right. I’m wondering if Staph might stick around as well. I don’t see him on the draft radar yet and while he’s been solid he hasn’t taken it to another level this year. I know he wants to leave but might be in his best interest to stay.

As far as crootin and depth looking out to 2019 as long as we have BRUCE we’ll be ok I think. The 2 guys he’s signed that weren’t consensus 4* or better are Bryce and Mac. Sucks to fall out of favor with the elite 5* studs but there’s a lot of good players out there. Just need the right fit.

No idea about Heron but it’s always seemed like the plan was for him to leave after two years. But I haven’t seen him on any nba mock drafts so who knows.

I think Chuma is good enough to be gone after next season though. I’ll be surprised and kind of disappointed if he’s here for his JR year.

Bruce needs a HUGE 2019 class though regardless

I don't think Heron will leave.
I think he’s gone just bc of all the rumors of him wanting to transfer after last season.

I also think he’ll get a lot more attention if he continues to do well in conference play and (hopefully) helps lead this squad into the tourney

Staph ain’t ready at the moment. We’ll see if he picks it up during SEC play and changes my mind, but as of now I don’t see him getting drafted.

Got some trivia today gang. Of our 8 players who have attempted 16 or more 3s who ranks 6-8 in % made?

Wouldn’t surprise me if Bryce and Stapha are near the bottom. Jared is probably at the top. And Desean and Chuma have been good from 3 too

Bryce, Mac, and Stapha. I saw that the other day and was surprised. Surprised that Mac has taken that many and that Stapha is shooting just over 30% from 3. Bryce will come and go so I'm not too concerned about him. He shot almost 60% the last 10 games of the season last year. We need to get Heron going more consistently though because that will open up more of his game.

Also Bryce has 102 3PA, which is about a third of our entire team total. By comparison, Heron and Harper combined have 100.

There it is. Pretty crazy. Bryce has been pretty consistently mediocre this year from 3 but is still finding ways to score a lot. Staph started out ice cold but has gotten better. I’m pretty surprised that Dunbar is at 40% just bc he’s had some ugly ugly shots

Yeah Bryce and Staphs % surprised me. They are both capable of over 40%. Malik has been a revelation from 3 the last couple games. Up to 40%.

I’d like to see the Mac 3 go away unless he’s just stuck with it out there late in the clock. Glad he’s capable of hitting it but that shot also takes him off the glass.

Some guys probably go down but this squad is capable of so much on O. Still waiting for that night we just shoot the lights out on a legit SEC squad.

What’s crazy too is Jared’s #s and most of his he’s pulling up from well outside NBA range. Kid has been ridic.

Bryce and Heron both shot 40+% last year. I expect both of their numbers to improve. Doubt Heron gets over 40% unless he just doesn't miss for a while. Bryce only shot 140 3s last year. He's on pace to destroy that number this year.

yeah. Bryce averaging 8.5 3 attempts a game felt kind of high. One of these SEC games though he's gonna catch fire and go like 9-9 behind the arc and help us beat A&M or something.

What's interesting about Bryce is he's averaging 13 shots per game and 3 FT attempts per game and still is second on the team in assists per game. It will be interesting to see how that changes as SEC play starts. He's playing like the alpha dog right now, and it seems to be working for him and us.

I love good Bryce... bad Bryce is painful to watch though. I really hope he gets on a hot streak to start SEC play, because that could keep him engaged and motivated for the remainder of the season. We need Bryce at his best, and if we get that we could do some damage in SEC play.

Bryce use to be bad about playing shitty D when he wasn’t hitting shots. I have not seen BB do that this year. That’s huge for this team.

That has always been my biggest frustration with him. He let his offense determine his defensive effort. When he was shooting well, he was engaged but not if his shots weren’t falling. And he’s a very good on-ball defender. So to get him engaged all the time on the defensive end is a big help.

Spoke with someone that's friend with Austin's dad. He's never going to play at AU again. Austin's mom took the money.

Then they just don’t give a fvck. A bunch of family were at the UConn game wearing Wiley shirts and getting rowdy, and that included his parents from what a friend told me.

Why can’t they just give it back? It’d be in their and Austin’s benefit if they did. Or maybes they did and it doesn’t matter. I’m just confused about the whole situation bc 7 or 8k shouldn’t bring a kid down

That kid at USC is really getting hosed it seems. If they won’t reinstate him our guys don’t have much chance.

I just looked up those GT players that got caught up in some mess in the offseason. Not FBI related but they only sat 3 and 6 games respectively. Been back for awhile now.

Anyone want to give an executive summary of JLee’s Boog B-ball recruits Thread?

We haven't talked to Okoro much lately. We're still recruiting Kobe Brown hard.

Surprising on Okoro since 247 has him as a 5* SF and Rivals has him as a 4* just outside the 5* range at #33 nationally, and IMO we need at least one SF in the next two classes. Okoro has been really high on us. Not sure why we haven't talked to him much.

But Okoro also said he wants to get back to Auburn for another visit.
