As much as we've heard about the Big Money Guys / PTB, sadly, it's even worse than we've imagined. This is a power play. Pure and simple.

The politically savvy BOT Member who is orchestrating it all is not the one who's getting most of the recent press ... it's Charles McCrary. Yes, the At-Large, ex-Alabama Power CEO who has been a member of Auburn's BOT since 2004. Charles McCrary also recently succeed Grayson Hall as Chair of Regions Financial Corporation’s Board of Directors and as of three years ago, ... wait for it ... was also elected to the board of directors of Great Southern Wood Holdings.

Jimmy Rane, who is not innocent in all of this, is more the "bad cop" and catching the press clippings.
No, JR didn't fund the buyout (at least directly), it came from AU's reserve fund. Although, don't be surprised if you hear about a large donation to get construction going on the dedicated Football Facility soon. But that's another story for another day ...

Pure and simple, Kevin Steele is their guy. The whole search committee is a charade. There are some still trying to fight the good fight but unless something significantly changes, KS will be Auburn's next head coach - perhaps as soon as Monday.

But before we get carried away, let's go back in time for moment and talk about how we got here ...
My source indicates this has been going on for 2+ years; Gus didn't play ball and he delivered mediocre results along the way. An opening presented itself, Gus was fired, and the rest is history.

By "didn't play ball" ... we're talking access. Recall back during 2010, Jimmy Rane and others were literally on the sidelines during the games. Gus never fit that mold, never had those relationships - frankly, never wanted them.
Every conversation Steele had with Gus over the last few years was relayed. Rodney Garner is also involved in this. Our sources indicate there's been an ongoing plan by the two of them to undermine Gus. Gus actually went to Gogue about it before he got fired. But Gus didn't have the political cover to remove Steele so it was a very awkward working relationship.

Bo and Rodney Garner are close. Bo is a pretty strong-willed guy -- won't really take phone calls or listen to any one else. Bo wants Rodney to be AU's first black DC which would happen if Steele is elevated to HC.
But what about the search committee and all these folks we've heard about who are interviewing? The committee members were officially selected by Ron Burgess (with input from Ranes via McCrary). It's all check-the-box formatily.
The committee is stacked with yes men and folks who are aligned behind the plan. Let's look at a few ...

Quentin Riggins - works at Alabama Power, takes his marching orders from McCrary
Burgess - sits on Great Southern Woods Board of Directors
Bo - he's going to vote in line with Rodney.
Tim Jackson - do we really need to say anything? Aligned to this old-guard/Dye crew. Positioned to be elevated to AD if they can get AG out. Which would give the PTBs full control over Athletics/Football.
Allen Greene - He's fighting ... but is just a figurehead ... was told he wanted to make a play to get Mario but that ship has sailed. Either some leaked our interest in order to sabotage him as a candidate or Oregon logically thought we'd be interested and fast tracked a contract. Regardless, AG has now power - even though he's trying.

It appears Randy Campbell is the only person on the committee who is standing up for a legitimate search but he's outnumbered.

So this leaves us with Steele unless we (bottoms-up) can get something to change. The old Dye crowd has aligned and KS their guy.

This feels so similar to the games Lowder used to play, navigating behind the scenes, stacking the BOT with guys beholden to him. It's about power. And it makes me freaking sick.

Don't get me wrong, I do think this group wants "what's best for Auburn" ... as long as they are part of the equation. And they do think Steele will be the second coming of Dye - or at least a return to that brand of football, Auburn politics. Personally, I think he's in the swan of his career and would not bring the energy and excitement to the program. Not too mention, does any one really see him out recruiting the Sabans, Kirbys, Mullens of the world? Who would he bring in as Offensive Coordinator (Mike Bobo is the name we've heard mentioned) to clean up the mess on that side of the ball?
So that's where we stand ... and we've heard Monday could shape up to be a big day. The timing/announcement is meant to bury the #StopSteele movement with Christmas ... and then once every one is back for the first of the year, it's all done.

Take this all with a grain of salt ... don't shoot the messenger ... do whatever you want with this information. But if you are as sick of the nonsense as we are ... and Kevin Steele is not your guy, share this and help put sunshine on this back-room, back-deal process.

mega honk and annoying ass former Boog Board Mod, Justin HOkanson, is going off on twitter right now basically echoing the post that @Fillup Marschell posted. This is some f'd up crap if the Rane gang is willing to spend 10 million dollars just so they can watch practice and go in the locker room to get a peak at some massive hogs. And all at the expense of a good program. Very sad. But at least they have zero intrest in messing with Bruce

Who knows how much of this is pure fantasy but I have no issue with anyone going behind Gus's back to get him run off. He sucked horribly. Somebody should have done it in 2017 before we gave him that ridiculous contract. If all this shit didn't get aired out you could maybe have convinced me Steele with a few staff tweaks isn't that bad for our failed huthut program.

watching JGT's brain drain right now on youtube and someone legit gave him 500 dollars. And there have probably been over 1.5k in donations for answers their questions in the 30 minutes i've watched. My god. I gotta get my podcast so I can get in on this racket.

dude gave him $250 last week and it was the biggest one he’d ever gotten so he put the dudes name on the screen with the little siren emojis

he left it up to start tonight’s show and another dude came in with $400 to blow the other guy out and got his name displayed instead

some dude dropped at least 1, if not 2 $100 ones over the first couple of hours, then came in and dropped 4 more $100 ones in the last 20 minutes or so... he did 2 back to back with questions/comments, then I think he added a 3rd because people in the chat were talking shit saying “he must’ve got a hold of moms credit card”, then he added a 4th and CALLED OUT THE DUDE WHO MADE THE $400 one and said something like show up on the regular, don’t just drop a big one randomly... it was the most asinine shittalking I’ve ever seen

I’m not hating on Jay at all btw, good for him milking these lunatics for all they’re worth, but my god at the dick measuring... he mentioned some of his studio equipment he bought and specifically mentioned something that cost $4k that he bought with around 6 months of superchats... if this search lasts another week, he’ll make that much with 1 show mid-week and 1 show the day the coach is announced

Yeah I’m pretty amazed to see the scrilla roll in when I watch. I watch the Arsenal fan tv live reaction vids too (way bigger audience) and the money fuggin piles in and it’s so many that hardly any of them even get their questions answered. It’s amazing

Maybe not that interesting but made an appearance on Twitter responding to Hoke that Steele/ Garner are heroes for getting our boosters to run Gus off and Will Muschamp’s sister/ mom? immediately liked it.
