Could Clemson have scored more but went basic once Dabo remembered that he owns Gus?

Yes. They made sure they didn't do anything risky because they knew we couldn't move the ball because Gus.
I tend to think so as well. Many boogs touting the 8 point loss as a moral victory of sorts and I'm not buying that Clem couldn't have dropped 28 if needed
Wouldn't doubt it. Dabo is light years ahead of Gus in everything.
They didn't want to show L'ville anything. Dabo shut it down once he realized Gus was running the show. They began installing a few things for this weekend and strategizing against the great Bobby P.
2 years in a row. Nothing in it for them to go ham on the boogs. They stayed safe, stayed healthy, executed and got out with a win.
They definitely played it safe and trusted their defense since AU wasn't moving the ball. Could they have scored more? Probably. But while that qb is really talented, he was definitely a risk to turn the ball over (didn't they have two turnovers?). Who knows. Maybe if they open it more, AU gets another one. Definitely played it safe with that qb
Yep. All I saw last year was how with that awful game plan and still only lost by 6. I think we all get the big picture now

I think they played it mildly safe. For example once they had the lead they stopped throwing 50/50 balls so often because why risk it.

I think they were conservative. Does that mean they could've lit up the scoreboard? That I don't know about. They didn't want to turn the call over or give us good field position. But I really don't think they could've run us. It's not like our defense wasn't play well. The Clemson offense wasn't trying to lay down in the first half while they were trailing, and they couldn't move the ball. They had two good drives, but that doesn't mean they had figured everything out and had our defense dead to rights.
Boogs do not adjust at the half. Third Quarter on they were who Clemson thought they were. After they went up 14-6, you, I, dabo, whole stadium knew AU was done. I think if Clemson tries they score and break the spirit of the D. It is a subjective view point, granted, but I can see it.
I guess it really depends on if their is a point at which the AU defense will cease caring because of an inept O. To this point, we have yet to see it. If the OL and DL are getting after each other in the locker room, we may see it. Who knows.
Was pretty clear they had an electrifying stud horse to do what needed to be done to win the ball game. I take nothing away from our D but they could have scored more if they needed to.
it's just all I can think about on this Friday night after a ridiculously busy week. I just had to put the game out of my mind until tonight...and now, I just can't stop thinking about how much I hate Gus

They definitely closed up the playbook once they figured our AU's offense wasn't going to be able to do anything.
Then opened it back up just enough to keep us from getting the ball back when we had all 3 timeouts and over 3 minutes left on the clock to play D.
