OT: GOLF

A lot depends on seniority according to some buddies who fly for a living. Their “hours” add up to about 15 days a month for an average tenured pilot. Of course that may mean a day of flying around the country for 3-4 flights. A 30 hour layover somewhere and flying all over again 3 days later for 3 of their 15 days “working”. Pretty sweet gig if you don’t mind being always from home. Good money with the big boys too.
lowest paid pilot at the airline I used to work for was 93.5k.

wrong at a major some pilots get entire months off paid. Most work 6 on 7 off or like 12 on 18 off etcc
Interesting. I did t know that. Is it difficult (relative to most jobs) to get on as a major pilot? Like, get your license, joint a program, and in a few years you will be flying or is it you probably need an in to get it?

dude. Flight school is really expensive and building up enough hours in the air to get those gigs is really hard and really costly. It's cheaper and easier to join the air force (if you qualify as a pilot) then do your service, and then peace out and try to become a commercial pilot. You're not gonna just go to flight school and then get a job as a big time commercial pilot.

The hardest part of being a golf fan is dealing with shitty tv coverage. Why is it not possible to watch a fvcking golf tournament in real time. I don’t want to wait until 2:00 this afternoon to watch golf when there are people playing right now.

The early rd coverage is just sad. Will have the Tiger, JT, Rory feature up on my iPad in a bit but it should be on TV all day.

It's a shame there is not a professional golfer named Thunder Dick, because this will never happen to me.
I just don’t really understand how it happened unless Fleetwood has a Wells Fargo checking account too. Bc you can’t just wire someone money without having their account number

I’m gonna sound like a total oulde here, but Tiger Woods may have the worst body language of any professional athlete ever. It’s so hard for me to pull for him when he acts like a whiny shit all the time.

hmmm you need to be a good pilot, you need to be young, and connections will help big time in getting into a major early. There are a lot of guys who fly regionals for a looong time.

It's much more difficult than most jobs to get in I'd say actually. Especially considering all the training you need before hand, and flight instruction is quite dangerous.

Not to mention the health requirements which most don't pass to start, then a bunch more wash out. sooo yeah it's pretty selective.

True, but you can go to ATP school for about 90 grand and be ready to instruct in a year to 1.5 years, then fly 100 hours a month for idk...a year and be at a regional. There is a track where if you're fully committed and you have about 200k in funds you can get from 0 hours to a major in 5 years. Very few people are that committed though.

This setup is so lame for a major. Big soft slow greens. Rough is nothing. There’s a couple mildly interesting holes with water that’s about it.

so the 2nd rd isn't even over yet? What time is Tiger projected to tee off today?
This is what I found on the web:

Tiger Woods posts 4-under 66 in the second round. A solid score, but he knows it could -- probably should? -- have been better. He stands tied for 19th, six shots behind leader Gary Woodland. He'll have significant work to do after lunch when he heads back out onto Bellerive for his third round.

Two birdies in a row for our boy. Need Koepka to miss this bird putt to keep Tiger just 2 back

T Woods with a beaut into the 17th in 2. Gotta legit eagle chance here gang. Oh, and Koepka just roided himself into the green side rough

Soooo looked like I'll be tricked into watching yet again on Sunday. Come on Tiger, no implosion.

Gang was busy playing perhaps the best ball striking rd of my life yesterday. 11 fairways almost all majestic bombs with the big stick. 15 greens including 2 par 5s in 2. Unfortunately the wedges and putter weren’t dialed in and it added up to 73. Felt like Rory out there.

Guess I was wrong about Tiger being out of gas. Looking forward to spending all day on the couch watching the PGA.
