OT: should be awesome when Fields picks UGA tomorrow morning

Gatewood will be anointed the GOAT and Fields was never anything special anyway.

Can't wait to see how corch and the rest of the booger eaters spin it. Wish I could remember who all was spouting off at the mouth about how he was not going to uga to play in a pro style offense behind 2 5*'s.

Already happened, bruh.

Looks like auburn got trolled again. Seems to happen almost every cycle.

Kirby seems to enjoy it. It's always been said he was behind the games with all the late flips or dragged out recruitments.

On Fields, I think he's a better passer than Gatewood. Gatewood seems to have the raw tools, but I don't trust Gus to make sure he's developed if Lindsey leaves. So in that respect, I'm not sure it would matter if we got Fields or Gatewood. Lindsey likey won't be here for their entire time at Auburn, and I don't believe Gus can develop them or will hire a replacement that will develop them.

Kirby owns AU. Doesn’t matter where he is.

Not sure anyone thinks he is going to Auburn tomorrow. He was a strong AU lean a month ago but not sure we ever had a serious chance.

Hope he goes to FSU if not Auburn.

autigers07 said we were never higher than 3rd. Seems like he has always had pretty good info.

I think he either works in the AD or with the football team or did until recently. Dude has always had legit info. But I also think some other guys had good info too. It was just coming from different sources with different views on the recruitment. Mikecb was pretty adamant that FSU wasn't in it and liked Auburn's chances, and he was saying his info was coming from the FSU staff. So I could see where both 07 and Mike thought their info was good.

With any luck whatsoever Gus won't be here their entire career either.

it's gonna be so much fun watching Saban run out the last 5 years of his career at bama while Kirby builds a similar (it will never be quite as dominant) monster at our other primary rival.

I've barely read the boards this week and my guess is that if the next 5 seasons go as expected I'll barely pay attention to college football. Depressing. Still counting on BRUCE to figure out how to get past this NCAA stuff and make basketball fun at Auburn again.

Yep. In the short-term, we will be fine because Chip is here. But when he leaves, Gus will Gus again.

What is it that makes you like Chip? I mean, what's really different from this year than last year other than the QB is better? Really what's different from this year than any other Malzahn year? Slow start, figure some things out against the crap part of the schedule, and a likely fold in November?

yeah. Where is Chip going? This will be his second year as an OC at a power 5 school. Last year his offense was one of the worst in the pac 12, and this year is definitely tbd. Assuming Gus is back, Chip will be at auburn for awhile.

I'm not sure Chip is "good", but he's not Gus. I can see signs of exploiting what defenses are doing and what looks like the makings of a plan. The last 2 games vs SEC teams we didn't crap the bed in the 3rd, which tells me he's either adjusting at the half or was prepared for what adjustments the opponent might make and already had a different 2nd half plan. These are massive steps past what Malzahn does.

Now I still have real questions about the general design and mentality behind Chip's offense, but he's doing some basic coach things that we haven't seen here in a few years. That's enough for me to be okay with him right now.

Mike's info comes from DC

I'm not so much saying that Chip is really bad as I am that I think Auburn fans fall for the same tricks every year. Last year "Gus handed over the play calling to Rhett" and we strung off our usual mid-season romp. Then when things got bad Gus had taken over the play calling again. I think this was all Gus covering for his boy Rhett. I believe that Gus is and always will be a major part of our game planning and play calling. So much of play calling is deciding mid week which plays you want to run in certain situations. Gus tried to give Chip credit for throwing out of the end zone this past week, but Gus has always like to do that. I remember specifically against A&M in 13 being backed up on the 1 and we took two shots to Coates, one he dropped and the other was a bad pass. We want to believe that everything bad is Gus and everything good is someone else, but really it's just our crackpot team doing the same things they do every year.

It’s almost like despite all of our recent success, and what that brought the university, these decision-making powerful people can’t get past seeing Auburn as anything but a regional program content with only enough success to satisfy our fans enough to continue to permit this glad-handing approach which keeps unqualified men in positions to earn salaries they would earn nowhere else outside of Lee County.

He's not Gus. There seems to be more complexity and variety to the passing offense. Stidham has definitely progressed from game one until now, which I think is all Chip. We seem to make adjustments well and break tendencies to exploit defenses, which is also something we haven't done in recent years. We aren't as predictable on any down right now. We look more prepared and organized as an offense.

Not all is great. I'm not a fan of the run game. If the stats I saw earlier this year about our concept selection is true, I think we're running too many RPOs and not benefitting enough from them. One game over half of our play calls were RPO (maybe Mercer), and I don't see defenses looking overly concerned about our passes off those RPOs.

I'm also of the belief that Chip has been controlling everything since Clemson. I don't think Gus is getting to make demands about play calls and selection and game planning. It's part of the reason why I think the offense has looked different the last 2-3 weeks. And it's why I like him right now. He's keeping Gus' hands out of everything.

DC trolled Mike!

Not sure DC trolled him. All DC told him was that FSU was behind Auburn which sounds to be true. It was Mike who just got Uber confident bc he thought there was no chance he’d go to Uga.
Do we actually believe he has a direct line of communication with Dameyune? If so I'd have been a lot more interested in the details of the fallout between he and Gus.

I think it was/is a legit friendship with DC. Mike was pretty money with all crootin info when DC was around plus it was also why Mike hated Rhett so much too

There must be so many threads to bump where Rice called everyone idiots for thinking Kirby would recruit well at Uga. Really must sting him too that Chaney guy that he mocks so much has pulled in two five star QBs in a row whereas Chirp just inherited Gatewood

I tried to avoid rice during the end of my tenure but I know he was adamant Kirby wasn't doing a great job crootin. Particularly in GA.

It's just crazy pathetic we have CAM grooming elite DTQBs built for our O and we can't get them.

So funny. I posted this summer that we were getting trolled.l hard. I listened in on kids facetime with a certain corch, and it was all about that school. My guy made a funny when he called me over and said hey Justin this boog here thinks your going to Awbren....lots of LOL's followed.

I made a slightly covert mention of it on the boog board and basically got runt off because Mike and Hunter are the insider, you know, and I am just some lowly jock sniffer messge board monger. In fact, someone on here (you know who tou are- raise your hand guy) gave me the third degree about a remark relating to "heard it straight from the horses mouth"...anyway good laughs this am about it all. Never doubt my guy when he says something is fact.

God please someone go bump them. Tell him Panic and Bowlcut send their regards.

Looks like it's done. Man we really boned not hiring Kirby when we had the chance. Full disclosure I thought the guy was a complete dope.

so did I... I just can’t take that safety scissors haircut seriously... and him being Dye’s guy was an absolute non-starter in my book

Dye’s guy is the AD most responsible for our entire situation and it’s best to burn that entire network to the ground... but - among the various groups that have started to splinter, it’s obvious he was still the smartest drunk in the room 5 years ago

What looked different against MSU than Clemson? Other than the obvious that it succeeded. It still looks like every pass play takes forever to develop, but there was time against MSU and not Clemson. And the couple times that MSU did pressure, he panicked.

I'm not trying to antagonize, but I just haven't seen any change since Clemson except DLs haven't been as good which allowed these long pass plays to develop.

Which will be fine until A&M, UGA, and Bama.

I have another boog thought. I'm about sick of hearing how Auburn shouldn't hire a coach because he would leave Auburn at some point. This is why we will always suck. We have to hire coaches that feel grateful for the opportunity and indebted to Auburn so they can be controlled.

It's a freaking little league mentality and the fan base is eat up with it. Go hire the best coach imaginable and if he leaves for his dream school, then you go hire the next best coach imaginable.

I hate the fan base when it comes to this. We can't hire Kirby because he would've left to UGA. No wonder we only hire people with Auburn ties. Because we justify lame hires with crap like that

Dennis Francione (SP) left UA for TAMU and don't remember them being embarrassed. Mad maybe but not embarrassed. I don't get it either.

It's why the AD panics when there's an unconfirmed rumor that Gus may go to the Cowboys so he sets him up with a $15 million buyout. Oh the horror of a coach wants to leave AU for a different gig on his own. It's making me madder and madder just thinking how most boogs feel this way
