OT: should be awesome when Fields picks UGA tomorrow morning

I have another boog thought. I'm about sick of hearing how Auburn shouldn't hire a coach because he would leave Auburn at some point. This is why we will always suck. We have to hire coaches that feel grateful for the opportunity and indebted to Auburn so they can be controlled.

It's a freaking little league mentality and the fan base is eat up with it. Go hire the best coach imaginable and if he leaves for his dream school, then you go hire the next best coach imaginable.

I hate the fan base when it comes to this. We can't hire Kirby because he would've left to UGA. No wonder we only hire people with Auburn ties. Because we justify lame hires with crap like that
Anybody who believes Kirby Smart comes to Auburn, signs 3-4 consecutive ELITE recruiting classes and has us competing for championships, gets tons of money and support from the program, and then bolts just because UGA “came calling” is literally too stupid to have a conversation with.

They don’t understand the work that goes into building a program, and they don’t understand how TRUE BUSINESS PROFESSIONALS do not make significant long-term career decisions to basically start over, just because you spent 4 years of your life 15-20 years ago in some place.

Looking at you, @griffna.

Not sure DC trolled him. All DC told him was that FSU was behind Auburn which sounds to be true. It was Mike who just got Uber confident bc he thought there was no chance he’d go to Uga.

I said that jokingly..... DC knew they were out of it, even with all of Jimbo’s successes with QB’s and the NFL. Surprised me a bit. I would’ve guessed them before UGA until that message continued to be told.

And even if he does leave because he's that good, then he's set AU up for success and make it very attractive for the next guy that comes in. There's not a downside to it yet AU people act like it would be the worst thing in the world. It's exactly why we've hired Chizik and Malzahn.

I went and read about the first ten posts in the Field to UGA thread. Bless their hearts. If people don’t lighten up, they’ll never get inside info again. Tate needs to lock that down to protect them!

Deets for those of us who live here in Greg's house. Not that is matters because all the real EA is over here these days. Interested in what old Assman has to say in his thread. He argued with me about how bowlcut would fail. He and Hooter thought they knew what was going on behind the scenes. That the big money guys were not happy. Well guess what...they don't know jack. The real money guys are all in, and now that they are seeing it translate into dominate wins on the field it will just get that much easier to get everything he asks for. It will be a revolving door of studs signing up to play for him. Man what could have been for us Aubie's. Still chaps my ass everytime I think about how that process went down. We were oh so close to being them.

I will say this, some of Kirby's success is because he is a great recruiter, BUT he also benefits from being at the in-state school. I think Saban/Kirby model would have been tougher to implement at Auburn. I think he would have been successful at Auburn, but I think he will be more successful with that model at UGA than he would have been here. I will go as far as to say that UGA may even have more potential than bama if Kirby keeps it rolling, and especially if/when Saban retires.

Not many deets to provide but within the first ten replies, there was a tear jerking post explaining how insiders would quit posting if people kept being mean. Griffna liked and agreed with it if that tells you anything.

Is it me or is griffna just fuggin losing her mind ITT? I mean she usually posts some pretty dumb shit, but she went full mongo over folks calling mike out. Mike is my dood, man, but she be ackin like some 13 year old Justin Bieber fan defending him against the masses.
can expect that from a woman that won't give bj's...jess say'n

What looked different against MSU than Clemson? Other than the obvious that it succeeded. It still looks like every pass play takes forever to develop, but there was time against MSU and not Clemson. And the couple times that MSU did pressure, he panicked.

I'm not trying to antagonize, but I just haven't seen any change since Clemson except DLs haven't been as good which allowed these long pass plays to develop.

Which will be fine until A&M, UGA, and Bama.

We looked organized and had an idea of how we wanted to attack Miss St's defense. It never felt that way against Clemson. I think Stidham has improved his decision making and is quicker with his decisions. I think we're doing a better job of making adjustments, even in-game between series adjustments.

I'm sure there are some formation breakdowns and motion usage and charting that would show we've varied our sets quite a bit. JGT has posted about pre-snap motions, and there was a significant difference between Clemson and Miss St.

I will take your word for it. I just fear a good DL is gonna expose AU. Texas AM will be a litmus test to see if we're ready for Georgia's DL

To be fair, a good DL will expose almost anyone. Just look at Lamar Jackson last night against NC State. Gotta have a good game plan against those great DLs, and I believe more in Chip in that regard than in Gus.

Running game is still ass against teams like Missouri. Better get that fixed or they’re fugged down the road

That's a massive problem right now. And I definitely wouldn't get excited if we run on Ole Miss unless it's Devan Barrett or Kam Martin or Malik Miller. I'll be a little encouraged if we give a bulk of the carries to one or two of those guys and hey have success.

Would love to see more Barrett.

TOOS is saying tonight that Miller is likely to get significant PT going forward. Pettway's heel is such a problem that they contemplated surgery before the season but because of the important early games they and doctors thought they could rest him enough to have him healthy. Now that is hasn't improved and KJ is one play away from being done for a while, we have to get the other RBs involved.

I think we will see KJ the first series or two but will see the others a lot tomorrow.

Lord help em if one of the younger guys puts it on the ground even in a blowout. May as well go ahead and transfer at that point.

No disrespect, but because of the important early games? We had one. And he carried it 34 times against Mercer. We didn’t use him in the important game when we needed to!! We ran Coxshat sweep on the goal line. Difference maker kind of call. You seem to have info. But if it’s from Gussie fools it’s not good.

That was almost verbatim what Brandon Marcello said. I'm not sure I buy everything he said. I do believe Pettway is pretty significantly banged up. Not sure I believe we thought he might need surgery but then a month later decide to hand him the ball 34 times against an FCS team.
