I have no god forsaken clue why I continue to root for this putrid athletic program.
I keep hoping for a better tomorrow.I have no god forsaken clue why I continue to root for this putrid athletic program.
I with ya. I dont usually hate anyone. I may not like them, but don't really care enough to actually hate them.In all honesty, i was ****ing trashed when I posted this last night. I really just hate Gus Malzahn with all of my cold, cold heart.
There are people who "get" the Auburn family and those who don't. But the people who "get it" are all super close, whether we know each other or not.In some ways, I'm really only a fan because it's something to talk about with my family and friends. I don't see everyone too often but Auburn sports is always common ground and something to relate to. I don't make a habit of talking with family and friends about politics or anything. So it's usually just sports, movies, tv shows, and talking about other friends. I don't know. I didn't go to Boog U, but my whole family did so I've always been a fan. Would be weird to just stop and start rooting for someone else. Plus, even though the Au family thing is super cliche, it definitely is real. Became friends with a lot of people in LA just by going to Auburn bars for games.
Paging Dr. FreudBecause my mother is an Alabama fan.
Do you want to help JGT?There are people who "get" the Auburn family and those who don't. But the people who "get it" are all super close, whether we know each other or not.
maybe close isn't the best word. Loyal to each other is better. It's like we're all from the same small country and want to help one another.
LOL "I got my shirt because I went to school there, you got yours because you went to wal-mart" genius.Don't think I haven't asked myself this hundreds of times over the last 43 years... perhaps more over the past several years.
I know this is going to come out as completely gay, but I try very hard to deal in truth, so here it is: I will always be an Auburn fan because I see us as the good guys. We have literally fought the evil empire for mere survival over the years, and continue to be a thorn in their smug sides. Even in their recent conquest and another billionth national title we handed them their lone "L" and it has paid dividends with the local turd population.
At lunch just today the Arby's order-taker (there's a joke here somewhere) with her tahd gear proudly on display couldn't help giving several "roll tides" in acknowledgment of my Auburn sweatshirt. They literally can't help themselves. I went with my usual response: "Oh, so that's yore school... what year did you graduate? Oh, you didn't go to school there... must be why I wear my Auburn shirt because I went there, and you wear yores because you went to Wal-Mart. War Eagle."
I did check my sammich for any xtra sauces...
So in summation, I will always be an Auburn fan to do my part in the war against the hairy, unwashed heathen horde.
I would like to help him.....leave tbb.Do you want to help JGT?
My Mom & Dad met on the steps of Tichenor, so it just goes without saying I suppose. No API, no SollyI have no god forsaken clue why I continue to root for this putrid athletic program.
Meh. There's 5 paragraphs in that one sentence. Sounds like both yore parents are boogs. I didn't get that lucky.Paging Dr. Freud
I didn't go to Boog U either, but my whole family did too, and in my case, it wasn't a choice. My parents literally took me to my first Boog football game when I was 9 days old. I guess I was indoctrinated, but nobody chooses to be a Boog fan without having some connection to the university. That's what separates us from bama fans.In some ways, I'm really only a fan because it's something to talk about with my family and friends. I just can’t quit. I often wish I could.
I think a lot these bandwagon folks just feel the need to be a part of something bigger, while i feel most nAU fans are fans because they were born one and continue to be because we hate ourselves. And I'd say a ton of those are bandwagon types that don't really get the same level of joy or pain anyone because I can't even call them fans.
This is sports fandom in general though, right? I mean only a select few get to cheer for the teams that have massive success at very regular intervals. And I'd say a ton of those are bandwagon types that don't really get the same level of joy or pain anyone because I can't even call them fans.
As frustrating as AU is, there are 128 programs that play at the top level of CFB and most or all of those also have hoops programs at that level. I'd guess 90 of those programs have no national titles of any sort in either sport in my lifetime. It may be 100 out of 128 or more, not sure and I'm not going to look it up. And more than half can't even win their conference in either sport. Tons of schools are equally as lacking in hardware in both sports as we are in basketball. I try to remind myself of what it would be like to be a Miss State or Texas Tech superfan when I get upset about AU stuff. I've had a ton more great moments that those people have ever got to enjoy.
^^^TRUTHWhen a fan tells me his team beat his two biggest rivals in the same year, then proceeded to watch one win the conference championship and the other win the Natty, then I’ll admit other fans feel my/our pain....only AU brAU.
You just nailed it with that last line. And you and MITS done too far in now to get out. I got a brother like yall and he can't get out either.I didn't go to Boog U either, but my whole family did too, and in my case, it wasn't a choice.
