While I agree that the bams are playing great at home right now, not sure how you could argue putting them over UT at the moment. Not with all the road/neutral site wins UT has (and recently)
I just think they’re a better team at the moment. It’s really that simple.

Just out of curiosity, why or based on what?

Im not saying your opinion is wrong. Im just curious on where you are coming from with it.

Bama has better players. Maybe the most athletic squad in the conference. At least top 3. They play good defense. If they can keep from getting stagnant offensively, they’ll be a tough out for anyone in the country. And they beat our beloved boogs. That’s a monumental accomplishment these days.

Agree. They’ve won at Vandy, USCe, and ISU big in the last few weeks while Bama won @LSU and got killed in Athens and lost in Oxford in basically the same time frame. Bama beating us at home is their only big chest pounder.

Am I crazy to be slightly concerned that our Boogs may struggle a bit to beat bama in the Clam? My head tells me that we will shoot so much better than it should be no problem, but bama's length gave us such fits that I could see us struggling again on O. If Sexton gets hot we could have issues.

Somebody here in the GREG please allay my fears. TIA.

Nah, I think it will be a tough game. But I went back and looked at the game stats by half earlier, and we shot the ball fine in the first half from 3. We were 7-15 from 3 but couldn’t buy a basket inside in the first half, going 5-19 inside the arc. That was flipped in the 2nd half. 2-11 from 3, 10-16 from 2.

I think Mac and Heron having really poor games was a siginificant factor in that game, more so than Bama’s length or defense. They will still give us some problems, but I don’t think we will have as many issues shooting in Auburn. That game also came at a time where Harper and Heron were really struggling from outside, which seems to have been rectified a little. Also, planning for Sexton and him being a late scratch probably had more of a negative effect on the game for us than we might realize.

I will say if they get Braxton Key going, which he shot well against Oklahoma late, they will be tough on anyone because Ingram and Sexton can break just about anyone down and allow Petty and Key to spot up for 3.

My personal opinion is that our loss to them was more about us and less about them. We made a lot of uncharacteristic mistakes and shot poorly from the free throw line. That being said, I always worry about bama.
In all fairness, they were on the court when we were playing uncharacteristically bad. They had a say in the matter. We are a better team than bama, but I do still think they are a bad matchup for us. We could win/lose this next one in another ugly game, or we could go off on them for a 50 point win ala a few years ago.

I know watching the game I felt like a majority of our errors were "unforced," but I was booging out so its always possible that was real time bias.

Torn on this UGA/ UF game. Guess it doesn’t really matter cause UF is gonna win. I want those studs back UGA is lining up.

Also, what’s up with this low backtrax infomercial? Looks dumb as fug.

To me, winning the regular season title says that you were the best in the league. The tourney championship just possibly says that you just got on a hot streak for about 4 games.
I kind of agree with this. Would be nice to clinch the conference with a win at the Clam and see all the Boogs and the fans get to celebrate. Obviously wanna win both but I kind of think the regular season title is the “bigger” deal

Think about it this way, back in 2008+/-, UGA was basically the worst team in the league. They were, I think, one of the last two seeds in the SECT. A tornado hit the ATL and all of the game times got sandwiched. UGA went on a tear and won the tournament, thereby getting the auto bid to the dance. I think UK won the regular season and went out early, already having secured a top 4 seed. Could be wrong on that. Who really accomplished more that year? UK or UGA?

Also, non SEC related, but Baylor choked against Oklahoma. Not as bad as Candy at the end of regulation, but pretty bad.

Well this is one the oddest line movements Ive ever seen (or maybe I am missing something).

Line opened at UTjr -11 against LSU in Knoxville

LSU suspends 4 players (but I think all were non starters)

Line has dropped to -9

Better players have to play more minutes. May be bad for long term fatigue, but should be fine for first game short-handed. That being said, load up on the Vols.

I know nothing about the 4 guys suspended, but think about it this way. If we suspended Chuma, Davion, Dunbar and Horace then we have no backups that aren't neckbeard chalkies. 4 players can be a huge deal even if they aren't starters. Again, I know nothing about the 4 suspended for LSU.

I get that, but if you only play 9-10 guys to begin with, losing 4 of those 9-10 is bad, just from a foul standpoint and being aggressive.

Correct, which is why I would have thought the line would have moved the other way.

But I full expect LSU to cover now since I questioned the line movement.

@Ser Sweater Vest sincetou seem to be of the wagering persuasion, here are my fade worthy picks for tonight.

Tenn -10
Bama -5.5
SCar -4.5

SEChalky as fvck. Also like Louisville +10 and Iowa St +9.5.

I’m just such bad luck for whoever I plan to bet on. Good thing I didn’t tease last night because I would’ve gotten the UF, UK, and Arkansas games wrong.

Dough-boy Reese just banked in a 3.

Their offense still looks broken to me, they've made this little run to end the half with all of Mizzou's players on the bench with foul issues. I think if you don't send them to the line and you don't come off their 3 pt shooters you are in the best spot by making their guys score on you off the dribble. Sexton is great at getting where he wants but make him finish, don't foul and don't collapse on him off guys that can hit set shots. Make him and Ingram go for 25+ each and make them do it off the dribble finishing over size.

They have the ability to be great defensively, but they were asleep for about 15 minutes in this one. Seem to have turned it on a bit once they got down double digits.

Sexton took 16 shots. Nobody else took more than 6. There’s your trouble.
That’s similar to the night UGA blew them out.

Make him score 35 on 25 shots to beat you. Don’t let Petty get loose. Don’t let Key and Ingram get great looks off his penetration. They are much better when he’s around 12-14 shots with a few other guys getting 8-10.
