SEC Basketball Thread

PG play, rebounding, depth and gasp FT shooting late few can match us in those areas.

the first part you mentioned is the key... I severely underestimated Sweet Jared... it’s been so long since we’ve had an elite point guard that I forgot just how big of an advantage it is in the college game

we’ve had an advantage - sometimes huge - at the point guard position in every game we’ve played recently... you look at the numbers and Arkansas has a “better” backcourt, but Jared bedowngraded their guys... the Ole Miss kid hit a few shots early, but the freshman from Oak Hill was a fuggin disaster

Jared has been the best player on the team - and the best player on the court - most nights... it goes way beyond his points/assists... he controls everything on both ends... gets anywhere on the court he wants - gets the ball where we want, and more importantly, when we want... and whether it’s man to man or in the middle of our 1-3-1 keeps the other team from doing the same

if Davion continues to improve we’re gojng to have a massive advantage at the point for 40 minutes a night, every night... and that alone will win a lot of games

In my opinion from watching CBB, PG play is what separates the bad and good teams. And as you said, we haven’t had a great one in a long time

It's why LSU is coming on so strong now too. They've figured out what they have in Waters and he's started to adjust to the college game more. They are going to be a tough out for everyone now.

Nobody in the league is safe in any game IMO. There just isn't anyone who can come in and play their C game and know they'll win. The best thing AU has done so far is compete every night and not coast. We coasted for one half and then fixed that mistake with a quickness.

Just hope that we can keep playing fun, entertaining hoops and making shots. I hate when SEC play turns into basket-brawl. Avery seems to crave that style of play and his predecessor may have been the expert of it while he was there. I don't need to see 2 teams shoot 35% from the field and commit a billion fouls.

This team can do just about anything BUT what they can't afford to do is keep playing like they did in the 1st half of the olé miss game and expect to win. Too many good to real good SEC teams out there.

I hear you, but define “competitive”... UT is one of the best teams in the conference - controlled the game and was up comfortably early - officiating was godawful - our bigs got in foul trouble - and we stormed back and blitzed their asses with the 6th/7th/8th guys in our rotation leading the way

that game was competitive... the Murray State game was competitive... the MTSU game was competitive... and all were away from home

last years team loses at UT - and it turns into the Vandy or South Carolina road losses where “we just don’t have it tonight” and the team folds... didn’t happen this year

last years team loses the MTSU game where we give away a huge lead... didn’t happen this year

we’ll lose more games... and have a few stinkers... but we just had one of our worst performances of the year and won by 15

we’re really fvcking good
I agree we are good but most the country, including Auburn fans, didn't really know that until this past week. Now everyone does and it will be different with a target on our back.

He’s gotta be a lock for the #1 top spot. Even if it isn’t a position of need, he’s head and shoulders above anybody else at this point. Even the Bagley kid.
Pretty interesting article this past week on The Ringer debating whether GMs want the next steph curry (trae young) or the next crazy multi dimensional big like Ayton. I don't think Young is a definite to go #1 but it'll be interesting

Damn most of the Turd MBB team are Sideshow Bob clones...

Expected TA&M to get it done there today and turn their year around. Nice win for Vols. Bams looking okay shorthanded tonight at LSU.
Hate to say it, and they still aren’t great by any stretch, but team Sideshow Bob is improving. They are not 100% Sexton on offense any longer. It’s still ugly but they are at least trying to involve others

They are most frenetic on defense but look undisciplined and like they would be broken by 4 passes. LSU tried to do everything off the bounce and played right into their hands.
