Boogs v Ole Miss

A few things:

1. That was one of the best wins on the season for us IMO. I say that knowing we've probably won some bigger, more impactful games so far. We won that game with defense and second half rebounding. The offense was just so so all night with no real run until late in the game. So, for us to be able to take a lead in the first half when the offense just wasn't quite there and to hold OM at arms length and respond every time we needed to, I think it was quite impressive, especially on the road.

2. Bryce Brown is the midseason SEC POY IMO. He's been our most important player throughout conference play because of his play on both ends. He needs to seriously be in the end of the year discussion for SEC POY.

3. Our bench was unusually off last night. I'd really like to see us work Dunbar into the game a little more. I feel like he's the only guy on the roster who we don't know what we're going to get from game to game, and I think we're really going to need him in a few games down the stretch and in the tournaments. Usually, we have a good idea what Mitchell, Chuma, and Spencer will bring. Need to get more consistency from Dunbar on both ends. Maybe give him the start at Vandy or a lot of minutes to get him more involved and engaged.

4. So impressed with Bruce and his staff and the adjustments we make and emphasis we place on things at halftime. We seem to be able to pinpoint our weaknesses from the first half and make great adjustments as well as anticipate how the other teams are going to adjust to what we're doing so we're prepared.

5. Love the confidence of this group. They don't get rattled. They keep believing in each other and playing hard. No finger pointing or arguing. The communication seems to be superb. I don't know how far this team can go, but it has all the intangibles necessary to go as far as it wants and only a few physical limitations to cause any concern.

people on the Greg butt heads all the time. It's pretty simple really. Just tell whoever to fugg off and forget about it. If you keep trying to argue your point though it's like blood in the water. The internet should not be taken so seriously all the time.
Or take the internet way too seriously like @fatz and put the whole board on ignore.

Regarding the late game situations with Harper, the only adjustment I’d like to see us make is occasionally swap it up and put the ball in Heron’s hands. Heron is a bigger frame and can finish a little better at the rim. Maybe not quite the passer of Harper but still capable. He’s also a solid FT shooter.

Because a 3 usually creates a long rebound and have you seen the sexy long arms on our stud ponies? They would scrap for that loose ball. Look, we don’t know what would have happened. It wouldn’t have been any worse than what did happen.

Worse would have been quick turnovers because we were passing the ball around and potentially putting it into hands of guys that aren't as solid with the ball while being pressured. Worse would have been a 14 point lead getting down to 3 with some time on the clock. Worse would have been losing.

I'm still not seeing that you grasp what we did at all. You seem to just look at the results of individual possessions in an end game scenario with a big lead as "did we get to pad Brown's stats" or something. Sometimes protecting the ball and running the clock are valuable things to do. A 14 point lead finished as a 9 point win. I fail to see how this is the catastrophe you've presented it as. And again, I hope we're doing the same exact thing in the NCAA tourney with the same exact lead if a team doesn't want to trap Harper and will let us run 25-30 seconds off the clock. It's winning strategy even if it's ugly when you lead by that much.

Agreed. I love Bryce but when the defense is looking for steals and trying to gamble late I'm not sure I trust his handle the same way I trust Harper or Heron. I'd like to see us use Heron more that way because I think he's a closer and we need another option outside of Jared anyway.

Also we're unbalanced when Harper penetrates late. We don't seem to get back as well as we should and I can't help but think having our PG at the rim is somehow throwing that off. Running clock is great, but you need to be balanced and be back on defense to prevent quick scores. If Heron's the guy with the ball Harper isn't going to be tempted to crash in for boards or dump off passes. That's not his thing. I think our other guys are getting lured in by instincts when Harper gets into the paint and it's causing us some issues that we need to correct.

You’re forgetting this board is very clickish and is used to having each other’s backs from tbb. I don’t agree with everything you say, but people just freak out over dissenting opinions against the tigers. Also, most of this board has never played an ounce of elite b-ball, so they look at a couple posters opinions as God’s word on the matter. It is what it is. This board is still 10x better than any other auburn board.

I’m a perpetual clique of 1... that a select few handful of people are actually intelligent enough to see things on my level and congregate here is the only reason I’m here - but don’t let that fool you into thinking it’s anything more than that...

it’s mutual repsect between intelligent, likeminded people who recognize each other’s talents... I’ll just as soon tell Denim Vest he’s wrong as I will anyone else - only he argues his side with facts and reason so I respond in kind... see any of the preseason player breakdowns for examples of many areas we disagree... if someone doesn’t want me to treat them like a dumbass and/or ignore anything they have to say, they’ll be best served to achieve that goal by not being a dumbass, posting something worth considering, or shutting the fvck up

since the internet does not lend itself to anyone shutting the fvck up, they should persistently work on the other 2... and that goes for everyone here - myself included

I am so glad that @Fatz Geronimo has me on ignore and can't see my mini-meltdowns and ridiculous hAUt takes mid-game. That would be embarrassing.

you’re not on ignore... not even on the radar

hAUt takes and meltdowns are half the fun... incessant parroting of brain dead drivel and a rice level inability to let things go - admit being wrong - or general obliviousness is no fun at all and will not be tolerated...

nor should it...

I’m really doing these people - and everyone on the internet - a favor by punishing them in such a public way if we want to drill these things down to their base levels

Recruiting a poster of your caliber over here after the Blazer board went down is one of my finest tronz accomplishments.

honestly, it saved me from wandering in the wilderness... I’m not going back to paying Jay - and I’ve never been on 24/7 and don’t intend to start... the main board is no place to enjoy boog basketball... I’m not sure what I’d be doing with myself if I didn’t have a handful of fellow boogs to share this magic with

so if anything I should be thanking you for giving me the heads up

I never uttered the words trash. I did think at that time he was touted too highly on this board for different reasons, but a lot of those reasons he’s shut me up on the past couple weeks. He’s wasnt on anyone’s NBA radar for those reasons.

Maybe you don't have the knowledge or basketball experience some of us have.

Maybe you should grab one of these books instead of talking out of your ass and saying others have never played at an elite level.

I feel like I should say Dr. Chuma did not have a good game last night, but I do feel like he’s getting tougher. He was scrapping for boards.

Dr Chuma wasn’t his best, but Young Davion really had a rough one... a lot of good times ahead for that combo, so thankfully we got by just fine without them last night

Confirmed today that I have the flu. Leaning towards choosing not having the flu
I had a flu shot and still got it. Best case of the flu I have ever had. Only symptom was sinus infection symptoms. I actually went to the doc thinking that is what I had. Came up positive for flu. Spent 5 days on the couch binge watching various shows, got to stay home from Church, got out of two family engagements, and slept when I wanted without any guilt trips. If only it could be like that everytime.....

Great post, Mate! What did you play your elite level ball at?

Yeah, there’s the positive of getting the shot every year. You may get it, but you’re not gonna end up in the hospital because of it.

That the version I need in about 2 weeks. My work travel is crazy and important in the next 2 weeks so I’ve been sanitizing, hands washing and am close to wearing a surgical mask right now.

After having the flu a few weeks ago, I’ll never hate on a surgical mask wearer again.
