Boogs vs BYU (not men's softball)

Where do you thing "reality" is for this team, cook?

I don't think we have enough depth just yet to contend for the title. I could see us in the 5-9.

Finish ahead of bama/uga/ut/mizzou/south Carolina, behind Florida/Vandy/Kentucky/Arky and battle with the others in between.

Challenge for hosting a Regional and potential to make a Super Regional.

IMO, will depend a lot on how fast the young talent grows up in SEC play.

I think somewhere in the 6-8 range in the SEC is about right. Not sure we’re a top echelon team in the conference. Probably middle of the pack. 4-5 in the West. 16-14 type of conference record. Probably a solid 2 seed in a regional, maybe a really outside shot at hosting.

Our pitching staff depth will hopefully allow us to hold our own in these midweek games that we’ve basically had to concede over the last few years because of the lack of arm talent. That should help the resume.

7th-10th finish in the SEC. I could see us finishing lower than 10th more than I could see us finishing higher than 7th. JMO
If we don't learn how to hit before the 8th inning, we're not going to finish very high. SEC bullpens are going to be much deeper than the trash teams we've played so far. We've had some good days, but we're beginning to show a trend of not hitting very well through the first 6-7 innings. Five of our 13 games, all against trash teams, we've been down going into the 8th. Hope we're just knocking the rust off.

I know what you're saying. On the flip side, we've been very good at hitting with two outs all season. And our offensive stats nationally are ridiculous. Sure, it's been against some weaker opponents, but we played weak opponents last year and the year before and didn't put up these kinds of numbers.

National Rank
18th Batting Average
5th Walks
9th Doubles
5th OBP
4th Runs
25th Slugging %
We're even 36th in HRs, which has been a rarity for us.

Josh Anthony seems to be better at the plate. We will see how that goes in conference play but that is encouraging.

This weekend against Northeastern will be a test. They took 2 of 4 earlier in the year from Mizzou.

For the sake of my little boog heart, I hope your trends are more prophetic than mine.

Who are the 5 teams? UAB, USA, Georgia St, Troy, and who was the 5th? BYU?

Im not sure I would call any of those trash teams, but then it does depend how one defines "trash team".

Here is a breakout how we have scored runs this year:

Inning-by-inning 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 Total
Auburn 17 17 14 22 9 10 18 16 3 126
Opponents 6 1 5 7 10 11 3 3 0 46

You'll learn more about those team midway through their league play, then we'll revisit this thread. I know how you love to revisit threads.

I 100% agree with that assessment. I know Bryant and BYU were picked to win their conferences and it will interesting to see if they follow through.

As of right now, which of those teams would you define as trash teams?

I don't know those teams well enough to know for certain who is shit. I have a 7 month old and a 3 year old. It's all I can do to keep up with Auburn. I just don't have the energy to look up college baseball players from Bryant University. You tell me since you supposedly know.

I don't think anyone can say for certain one way or another on any of these teams right now. I certainly can't. I was just asking for your thoughts since you joined in on the discussion.

Trash team = Not Auburn
