Played basically an entire half at their speed and have the lead. I’m encouraged.

Out rebounding them 19-14. Love they don’t crash the O glass got all their big buckets off O rebounds. Well one was a BS airball.
If we can build a bit of a lead, I’m hoping it forces uva to open up a bit so we can run them out of the gym. They are lucky they got the second chance threes and that AU has been off on 3.

Credit their defense and ball security I guesss. But we’re up three after going 3/14 from 3 and only forcing like 3 turnovers. It could get nasty though if our regular numbers start flowing in our favor
Agreed. We would be up 10 right now if we were shooting decently. Need to keep doing a great job on Guy and Hunter. 9 points combined for them in the first half is stellar. Jerome is already at his season average though. Those wide open 2nd chance 3 pointers we gave him hurt.
UVA is doing a good job of stopping penetration while also minimizing our kickout passes. We’re not able to drive and kick and then make the extra pass. We are getting to the rim some, but we need to finish stronger. They have four blocks to our zero right now.
Their defense is clearly good, but the refs are letting them have all sorts of contact we drive or shoot. Wiley, Samir, Bryce and Danjel all took lots of contact with no whistle. On the other end they give that Jerome guy a foul should when Malik bumped his hip well after he released a damn layup.

I’m a little befuddled we got Bryce checking their worthless PG instead of Guy or Jerome. Might be an adjustment. Might be Steven has his reasons and I’m just too dumb to know why it makes sense.

Agree. We need Danjel and Dunbar to knock 2 down each in the second half from deep. If they start hitting, UVA can't focus on smothering Bryce.

We got 4 players with more pts than Bryce. No way he gonna let that stand in the 2nd y’all.
Jared did a nice job there towards the end attacking. Need more of that. UVA is not used to a guy who will attack them in transition as they are getting back. I assume everyone else just concedes its going to be a half court possession unless they get a steal on a break.
