OT: Boogs vs Florida in the Gainesville not men's softball Super Regional

So we’re already discussing what’s going to happen in the off-season? Lot of faith you guys have in Butch

You want to bet a Hundo on the series? It would be worth a 100 to have your number Jimbo. Regardless, we’re going to drag nutz the next two days on all Gator fans.

You want my number? I mean, if you want to bet $100 on this series, I’m in. But first you have to tell me why you call me Jimbo..

Deere lowered...I have a buddy named Jimmy. And we call him Jimbo. Remarkable that you haven’t made the jimmy/Jimbo connection but whatevs.

I’d have to contact you to collect. Number or email....bet?

I haven’t got an acct there but I’ll get one. You want 200 to make it worth your time for sending me the Chile link??

Just FTR, I didn’t offer that in a hostile way...just tryin to make the week!
I didn’t take it that way.

So Boogs win the series, I pay you a Hundo. Gators win the series you pay me a hundo. That’s the bet, correct?

Well, today was not ideal. Hate it for Mize. If we don’t advance, I think he’s going to be really frustrated with the way things ended at Auburn. Hopefully, we come out tomorrow and get things going early and capitalize on our chances. We had opportunities to open the game up early and run Singer and didn’t take advantage. A 3- or 4-run lead early maybe prevents Florida’s big inning.

Regardless, we still have a chance. Just need to play well and continue to apply the pressure to Florida.

Our approaches in the 3rd, 4th and 5th were awful. We fell into the trap that every team at every level seems to fal in to. Get behind and start pressing and swinging too early. We should’ve had him out of the game before the end of the 5th.

Edit: I meant 4th, 5th and 6th but you get the gist.

Definitely. Looked like we panicked a little and went away from the approach that got us the lead. I think Gabe has done a pretty good job with several of our hitters getting them to use the backside of the field, but I still think he has some work to do to get guys bought into his hitting approach. There is still a lack of trust in the approach when we start struggling. Singer is a tough guy on the approach because the ability to go the opposite way is difficult on righties with that sinker burying in. But we did a poor job of recognizing and adjusting to the offspeed pitches. Need to be better tomorrow or Kowar will do the same thing to us.

Felt bad for our guys yesterday. They did their part and gave the #1 pick in the draft a 2-run lead.

A lead you’d think a guy like that could protect. But he let us down big time today. It will probably be his last AU appearance because of it.

He will get destroyed in the bigs if he doesn’t get mentally tougher.

Agreed there.

I’ve noticed this year that if he falls behind 1-0 or 2-0, he seems to be overly worried about walking guys that he catches too much of the plate. Especially if he doesn’t have absolute command of his offspeed stuff and his splitter.

Florida was squaring balls up most of the game against him and because he was falling so consistently behind, he couldn’t change eye levels with out of the zone set-up pitches that are integral to split-finger/changeup pitchers.

Hopefully Tanner gives us a stellar performance and we can force the if-necessary game. Would love to give Casey another outing in Omaha to have a better end to his stellar career.

Yesterday looked too much like the postseason version of Kershaw.

Geez ump is squeezing the shit out of the zone today. The Holland HBP called back and we square up 4 balls all right at their guys. Just seems like today is going to be one of those frustrating games where the ball fall not in our way every time. We needed 5 more feet on Edourds ball to jump start us. we need a long ball get these guys believing they can win. I wish Butch would do something to light a fire under our them. Seems like we need a real spark real quick.

Casey Mize finishes his Auburn career with the following 2018 numbers:

10-6 record, 3.30 ERA.

SEC record: 6-5, 3.87 ERA

Last 7 appearances: 44.2 IP, 27 earned runs allowed... 5.49 ERA, 2-5 record.

For the #1 pick, that’s just not gonna get it done down the stretch when it matters.
