OT: Boogs vs Florida in the Gainesville not men's softball Super Regional

Could Mize throw an inning or two in relief if needed? or is he totally done?

Nah, I seriously doubt it. Plus, I don’t think Butch would ever do that, especially to a guy in Casey’s situation. Hopefully, Mitchell can get us 5-6 tomorrow and we can piece it together on the backend. Really need to offense to show up early and often tomorrow.

I would think Mize could throw an inning or two if needed on two days rest. That's not insane or unheard of, and I bet Casey would be all for it.

Even if Mize is 100% healthy and good to go, I just don’t know if I want him on the mound with the ball in a big game right now.

He’s 1-4 in his last 5 starts with an ERA >7.0. He seems to be in a mental funk or just shrinking from big moments.

Been painting all weekend and haven’t got a chance to watch after basically watching every game prior. Will be nice to see game three from the couch.

Been forced to listen to Rod.

He’s pitched 30% more innings than he has in any other season at AU. Spent a ton of time this year being dominant and getting no run support at all and just kept plugging along. Would it be more likely that he’s tired or maybe pitching through some injuries or that he’s suddenly shrinking from big moments or in a mental funk?

Seems to me like he hit a wall. Which isn’t all that abnormal really.

He’s the #1 pick in the draft and has been disappointing down the stretch for us.

Top picks are supposed to be able to pitch through imperfect conditions and give you a shot to win almost every outing. Not finish the year on a 1-5 stretch with a bad, bad ERA when it matters.

The pitch looked good, but I didn’t get to watch enough of the game to see how the ump was calling to know if that was consistent with the rest of the game or not. The HBP on the other hand, ump made the right call by letter of the rule. Batters must attempt to avoid being hit by pitch. Holland froze like a statue. I think that rule is bullshit. But that’s the rule and blue made the correct call.

Ive always thought the rule was if you are hit by the ball in the batters box, you don't have to make an attempt to get out of the way

It’s rarely called. Even more rarely called in a game of this magnitude. Still, by the letter of the law it was the correct call.

What is the letter of the law?

Does this count for guys who take a ball in the back?

Technically they could have fallen on the ground
