haven't watched a replay so I'm sure I'll be wrong or misremembering some things but here we go:

Stidham: Same ole same ole. Beautiful bomb to Schwartz

Malick Willis: Thinking about transferring?

Sandberg: Way more athletic and fast than I thought he'd be. Dude is big and can run really well. Wanted to see him really air it out but he definitely passes the eye test early. Early favorite to start next year.

Whitlow: missed the fumble, but he looks like a future baller to me. We'll see what happens against LSU but I like how physical he is and his ability to bounce runs outisde the tackles

Kam Martin: RB2 now and maybe RB3 soon. Just doesn't have the patience and vision it seems.

Shivers: Kid is a boss and plays with no fear. Get him the ball more

Schwartz: my god. Basically Onterrio Mccalleb but with the ability to run routes, catch passes and actually make cuts to turn the corner. Eli Stove was one of my fave players but this kid needs to see the field more

Hastings: happy to have him back

Matthew Hill: Saw that he ahd a carry for 22 yards. Missed it. Was it nice?

Defense:

Daniel Thomas: Gotta be the msot agressive/smart safety the Boogs have had in a while. Can't remember when the last time we've had someone anticipate and jump routes the way he does. Probably gonna whiff on one and get burned one time this year but he's been great so far this season

Sherwood: Again, glad to have another safety on the squad that just looks like a natural playing the ball in the air. Pretty routine pick but he made it look effortless and easy.

KJ Britt: what a beast. Looked like he was everywhere when he came in. I'm sure we'll all miss Desean Davis but this kid is a monster

Big Cat: Got another sack. Continues to impress

TD Moultry: Didn't notice him. Wished he'd have stepped up on this one.

Jibunor: Got a sack. Looks fast as hell but small. Hopefully he can turn into a dee ford type player

Christian Tutt: didn't really notice him actually playing but he's absolutely a boss on punt returns. So we got that position covered for the next few years once RD leaves. The days of Marcus Davis are definitely over.

Sure i'm missing some others. Someone can chime in with their thoughts on the OL

Malik seems to be part of a group of QBs brought to AU to not play the position of QB. 9 pass attempts in the 18 Games that he has been the 2nd String QB. His skillset diminishes. He should transfer.

yeah. he fit the gus offense of 2013-2014 but he does not fit this Chip Lindsey quick screen/rpo. He'd be wise to transfer because he's not gonna get any PT at safety if he tries to change positions.

Matthew Hill had a nice run and at the end of it some dude 2X as big as him actually took the ball out of his arm midstride.

Some views on Malik seem to have changed drastically last night. Still waiting on Gus to develop a HS QB at AU.

Kid is obviously a great runner but it looks like Chip is forcing him to do more than just the zone read stuff he did last season, and Malick is proving that he can't handle it.

I still think he'd be great in that 2013 offense.

I don’t blame the kid. He is what he has been groomed to be at QB. Same as JFIII, Jason Smith, Gatewood, etc etc

I don’t blame the kid either. And nobody should blame me or anybody else for never being too comfortable with our QB situation after stud transfers leave.

Moultry and Malik seem to stink
Moultry stood up and played some OLB. Like not drop back into coverage but actually lined up pre snap as a LB. I do wonder if they’ve considered moving him back to his natural position. Because it’s possible that he gets buried at Buck and he’s too talented for that

The zone read(unless it was predetermined) was his worst play of the night that I saw.

I think he looked good last year because there was literally zero pressure on him. He had no one behind him on the depth chart. No one fighting for his gig. Just carefree and confident. Now he’s got too (arguably more talented) dude biting at his heels for the starting job next year and a 5 star kid coming in January. I think it’s possibly a young, immature kid wilting under pressure thing than a Gus/Chip thing

Also gonna be interesting what happens with Harold Joiner. The fact that AU threw the ball to Cox and Kam last week out of the backfield makes me actually think that Joiner will eventually have a big impact. Lots of legit weapons on offense

Wish we would use an off-season (and blowouts) to force our incredibly athletic backup QBs to run the offense disallow them from running until progressing through all their reads.

Same shit, different year with QB development.

I would get a huge chub to watch Cord and JoeyG get all the 2nd half snaps and attempt 10-15 passes each against these laugher opponents so they can actually experience game speed and reads... and you know... develop.

On Cord: Have no idea about the arm thanks to the lack of utilization with the play calling but he at least looked the part.

On one hand, you’d like to see them air it out, but on the other hand he took out Kam Martin and gave a ton of reps/carries to everyone else. Cant build rb depth and air it out at the same time.

Also giving Troxell and Cal Ashley a full half of football was good too

The zone read(unless it was predetermined) was his worst play of the night that I saw.

When he walked off the field, Gus looked at him and said “how does that happen?” That made me think it wasn’t predetermined and Willis was supposed to make a read.

We’re two games in and Marlon Davidson has a whopping two total tackles and zero TFL. And I can’t think that he’s eating a bunch of double teams or anything with Brown, D Russ and Coe all demanding attention.

I think he bulls up and moves to DT next year. Can’t see him going pro after this season

He leads the team(D) in talking shit though and that actually matters to coaches. Seriously.

Yeah. I heard that last night on the broadcast that the coaches consider him a vocal leader or something. I think the hype manifested when he started as a frosh. Then he was injured last year so he got a pass. Now he's supposed to be 100% healthy and ready to dominate, but I rarely see him in on plays. I'm sure he's doing his job at maintaining the edge and stuff but he is not a good pass rusher on third downs/passing situations.

I hope he gets moved inside next year. A lineup of

Coe
Marlon
Newkirk
Big Cat

would be dope

@MomentInTheSun he almost doesn’t make enough plays to notice, but watch him after each play he makes. Playing like Jane but screaming like Tarzan it seems. He has the swag, confidence, and talent. Maybe it all comes together soon. He’s very average right now.

I don't think that kid can read a defense and I'm not even talking about the passing game. He makes bad decisions on the zone read more often than he makes good ones. I think if he's the QB in 2013 instead of NM14 we go .500 and Gus is fired in 3 years. He's a complete mess and people generally don't give enough credit to the elite zone read QB's for how well they make those reads. It's the same reason not every good athlete could be Tommy Frazier running the option stuff. There is an art to it and I see nothing that tells me that Malik can do it.

Two thoughts:

On Marlon Davidson - he is the strong side end. This means he goes to the TE side or typically to the side that there is an additional blocker. We also ask a lot from him in terms of setting the edge. I'm not saying that is why he hasn't been as disruptive, but it could be a factor. That being said, I think he has a brighter future inside and hope that he stays for another year. Ideally Coe slides into SDE and Marlon moves inside, but I'm worried Coe may be gone after this year. Hopefully all the studs coming out will convince him to come back.

On Schwartz - couldn't have asked for a better first game as part of the gameplan, but we should also keep in mind that was against Alabama State. Hopefully he can be that dynamic against SEC DBs, but we will need to see it in a game that matters for me to be believe he is ready for it.

I know it was just ASU but I think it was pretty obvious that the kid is just on a different level speed wise. You can see see it relative to other Boog players. Shivers is fast but it's pretty clear by comparison that Schwartz is a rocket
