Boogs v South Carolina

Well, today wasn’t very good other than all the schools behind us with a chance to catch us also lost. Still have a two game lead over Tennessee and the magic number is two to clinch a share. And an Auburn win Wednesday combined with a Tennessee loss at Florida will also clinch a share. So not all is lost.

Losing Mac is a big, big deal, but it isn’t the end of the world or insurmountable. We just are out of margin for error. Chuma now has to play the 5 behind Spencer and probably some 4 with Spencer. Dunbar now has to split time between the 3 and 4. And Heron, Harper, and Brown will have to play a lot of minutes the rest of the season. Harper can’t be so sh!t the rest of the season, and we can’t suck shooting the ball again like we have the last 2 games.

I still think this team can play well, especially considering how we played after the Mac injury today. But we have to show up and bring that relentless effort we showed in the second half the rest of the season. Two homes games where we should shoot better and two road games against teams that don’t defend as well as our last 2 opponents.

True. Seems to get worse. Across all of basketball, officiating is worse. Every season. I love college basketball. And refs do their damndest to ruin it.

I agree with all you posted but I worry we had an emotional lift, winning one for the Mac, and that we’ll struggle down the road. Bottom line...if Chuma is our best prospect, he better step up and avgerage 13/8 or so. Dunbar has to become consistent. Davion needs to get better and the rest need to keep on keeping on plus. We can do it with 8 guys but we can’t fall short in any of those 8 spots.

I was in shock after the game and saw that both teams shot 35+ FT’s. I thought several times we got screwed but obviously they couldn’t have called too much more.

Do you guys or gals think the inside game is going to be the teams ultimate downfall like in the ncaa tournament?

Not really except against certain teams like Purdue or Arizona. We live die by our rhythm and we can only get going if we shoot our 3s well so We essentially live or die by the 3.

Yeah pretty much. Not the inside game on offense but the lack of side on the defensive end. We’ve now become a tiny, tiny team. One player at 6’8”. No one taller than that. We rebound well, but it’s goign to become an even tougher uphill climb. We’re almost going to be a 5-guard lineup, and anytime Okeke is at the 5 we will be a 5-guard lineup. For us, that’s not a terrible thing if we’re shooting the 3 well because that’s kinda what we want to do. But it makes matchups even more crucial when we get into tournament play.

I think this injury puts a lot more pressure on Harper and Heron. They’ve become our two creators. I know Bryce is scoring well and creating for himself, but Harper and Heron are getting into the lane more and finishing or finding open teammates. They need to be great moving forward.

Was trying to figure out which leg Mac hurt and stumbled onto a national headline ‘star college player suffers injury’

Ended up watching the vid and that rotten trash USC club just barreling into the lane. Maybe doesn’t make much diff but as a fellow lefty I’m guessing he uses his right more for jumping. Anyway Godspeed Young stud.

Jesus Christ. Just looked at the box score. 5-27 from three and Harper had NINE turnovers. What an anomaly of a game. Credit to Frank’s D but the Boogs played like absolute ass as well
Harper’s worst game in a year and it took us a full half to the way they were overplaying everything. Harper was the only one even trying to drive and he kept turning it over. Not sure anyone has extended their defense on us like that without getting TORCHED. Weird day for sure. I think we trash them at home
