To take a golf analogy from BRUCE we enter Amen Corner as the Aggies come to town. And it's not like the nonsensical amen corner pathetic boog huthut fans keep trying to use this actually makes sense. SEC games 11-13 are a critical 3 game stretch to our conference title chances.

This is really a matchup everyone has been waiting for as a squad with ridiculous size and physicality visits the Clam. They've looked good their last couple against lesser foes and at home. TAMU hasn't won a road game in conference and only one all year back in November. I expect the boogs to prevail in this one. 3s are worth more than 2s and I'll be happy to exchange them all night.

This one scares me. I think this game falls solidly in the category of "this game + the wrong officials = loss." That being said, we're playing in the Clam, we'll be ready, and I fully expect to boog on their faces.

Everyone has been concerned about aTm's size and length, and for good reason. They have 4 guys at 6'8" or better. They rebound extremely well. They block shots well. They pass the ball well offensively (they're 2nd in conference play in assists). And not shockingly, they score the ball well in the paint. But they don't shoot 3-pointers or FTs well, they don't score a lot of points, and they struggle defending the 3.

Tempo is probably also going to be a factor in this game like it has been for several games now. According to KenPom, we're 17th in adjusted tempo while aTm is 197th. They're going to try to slow us down and work the ball inside-out. We're going to want to run and play them in transition. Being at home, that should work in our favor.

aTm recently made a change at PG. They went to freshman TJ Starks. They're 2-1 in his starts, and I've seen some Ags say he's running the offense better. Hogg and Gilder are good shooters, although neither have shot well from 3 this year. Starks is 6-10 from 3 in his 3 starts. Davis and Williams are their post threats. Davis is your typical back-to-the-basket C with great moves and touch. Williams is just an athlete that cleans up everything. Trocha-Morelos is their best 3-point shooter by percentage, and he's a 6'10" that I think could really cause us problems if he's matched up with Mac or Spencer because he will likely pull them away from the basket.

This game feels like strength on strength. They have their post, inside game and slower tempo. We have our 3-point shooters, aggressive defense, and home court. I think home court prevails in the end.

Gang, as long as my tickets don't fall through, I will be boogin' live inside the clam on Wednesday night for the first time this season. So, if there were ever a prime opportune time for our adorable hulking young studs to have a letdown game, this would be it. I'm going to go ahead and take the blame for this one but I have to see us boog in person at least once this season. So please, don't be mad wit me.

Boogs by 6.

Edit: After reading the comments that followed my post by our highly esteemed resident experts, I'm now predicting Boogs by 14.

Solid. Only quibble here would be that statistically they defend the 3 very well. 21st in the country in opp 3pt %.

no one we’ve played has been able to slow us down for 40 minutes... we will eventually break them and force them to speed up the game, we just have to make shots once we do...

Bryce and Staph are smoldering right now - especially at home... Jared is running the offense at peak efficiency... their big guys won’t handle our spacing for 40 minutes...

they don’t win high scoring games... they beat Penn State 98-87 in November... and beat Buffalo 89-73 in December... against legit competition - if they give up more than 70 they lose

if we lose it won’t because we couldn’t handle their size, it will be because we’re uncharacteristically cold for 40 full minutes... and I’ll believe that happens when I see it

Yeah, I kinda screwed that up. They’re 11th in the conference allowing 36.2%, which isn’t great, but very good nationally. Their conference start had a lot to do with that. They gave us 7, 17, and 12 in their first three games. In their last 7 games, they haven’t allowed more than 8, although their last 3 games they allowed 8/8/7 against three average 3-point shooting teams. They’ve played 3 of the top 4 3P% team in the SEC but all at home.

I don't get the negativity about the potential in this game. I love our guys playing against teams that play big.

I feel confident that we are in better shape and we will be able to wear them down in the second half. Just hope we can keep their bigs under control. We need better play from Horace and Mac than we’ve seen the last couple games. Also need Davion to get out of his rut so he can give Jared a break.

I'd expect to see a good bit of that zone D. They'll get theirs on the glass but I don't know how much man we want to play on their interior guys.

Looks like our Boogs are a 7 pt favorite. Tough to wait so long may have to go to the DVR to enjoy a previous victory.

Been watching some aTm highlight videos to do some scouting. I'm not super confident, but I'm not scared of them either. They're a good team that presents some matchup issues, but we give them some matchup problems too. Their frosh PG is going to have his hands full with Sweet Jared, and Bruce says he believes Murray is our best matchup problem against any team. Murray going toe-to-toe with Robert Williams is going to be fun. IMO the one area where they have a clear advantage on both ends is at the 5 with Tyler Davis.

Yeah I haven't seen a ton of them. Davis seems like he gets winded pretty quick. Maybe same with R Williams neither play a ton of mins. They can't shoot at all and the Clam will feast on a FR PG that has only recently become a starter. We play our game it's just another dub but you never know.

Watch this video. They're a big team, but it's a problem for them defensively. Kansas is built similarly in size to us, and aTm has a really hard time staying in front of their guards. So they have to help and collapse to the drive all the time, which leaves easy kick-out looks all day. I bet we're going to be able to get a lot of those looks. This could be a huge game for Jared.

took a peak at their numbers a little last night and feel even better than I already did... they can’t shoot for shit

Staph has been on fire lately and his season numbers are still way down... he’s got another 3-4 games of being hot to have his numbers fully reverted to the mean, so I expect him to continue to roll

3 minutes of Boogin gets us a W, anything over 4 just makes another statement that will still be ignored by the masses

damn those 3's are filthy

I imagine we can have the same type of success shooting at home as Kansas did. Trocha-Morelos can shoot for the Ags. He's someone we need to force to drive. Closeout hard and make him give it up or put it on the ground.

I’m not as confident as Vegas or the Greg but the more I read here the better I feel.

Like I said, I'm not super confident we're going to beat them, but I think all the talk about them being big/long and causing us a bunch of problems is one-sided. I think we're going to cause them some problems too because we're a good team and we're at home. Their size doesn't scare me as much because it can be a problem for them as much as us.

Good read. They have some good ideas in there, but their teams has proven so far not to be able to execute what they're talking about doing. aTm isn't a great offensive or defensive team. We're a great offensive team with an efficient defense. I think being at home favors our offense even more against their size. The idea of aTm going small seems to be a good one, but it seems they'd be doing that while sacrificing their strongest advantage against us.

pretty decent read - better than I expected... they have us pretty well pegged, but looking at what they seem to think they have to do to win, it looks good for the boogs

one of them predicted an aTm win 74-66... even they know they don’t win when they give up 70... has anything you’ve seen from our guys lately worried you that we can’t score 70? yeah, me neither

another said they have to limit the turnovers - keep them at 14 or fewer... they average 14 and only force 11... we average 12 and force 15.6... freshman point guard - making his 3rd start - on the road - against a team that plays faster than anyone he’s ever faced... he’s going to get seduced into speeding up the game more than they want

I admittedly don’t know anything about the kid, and they seem to think he’ll be able to get by our guards - so maybe the pace will help them more than I expect - but I don’t worry about their half court offense... if we speed them up enough, we’ll trade some half court breakdowns and offensive rebounds for more turnovers and more transition looks... that’s a battle we will win over the course of 40 minutes

finally, they think their zone defense is horeshit... so, it goes one of two ways... 1 - they stay in man, we pull their bigs away from the basket and tire them out or force them to guard 20 feet from the basket and feast... 2 - they go to zone and Mustapha and Bryce murder them below the break... they asked about our guard depth and hope they can wear us down late because of our depth... which is almost as adorable as Sweet Jared

after reading their thoughts I feel even more confident... and I already expected to win

they’re still talented, so don’t take it as a given because they still have a very specific path to victory that we can’t really match up with... the odds of it all falling into place in The Clam just aren’t in their favor - drastically not in their favor

Ready to get my boog on tonight at the Clam. Anything y'all want me to yell at Malzahn when he is inevitably dragged out to center court to celebrate our football recruiting class?

Any parking tips for the Clam? Been a couple years since my last hoops game and I had a parking pass that time.
