Boogs in the final four. Where we all knew they had the talent to get to and here they are willing it into existence.

No idea about UVA. Can't honestly say that I've watched more than 15 minutes of them all season. They have the reputation for being a boring, drab, defensive team and I ain't got time for that.

Gotta think we're gonna need a big offensive contribution outside of SBJ and Bryce. Maybe Danjel rains some threes or Austin dominates inside. I don't know but boy oh boy gang, we're in the mother fuggin Final Four and it's another week of the Boogs dancing in the national spotlight.

Let me go ahead & leave this early in this 23 page thread to come. The Boogs will forever be linked to Texas Tech, U of Virginia & Michigan State in the history of basketball lore. That’s just what the Final Four does to a program. And thanks to the OP for starting another win/win thread. I’m still beside myself, so OUT for now. I’m still draped in toilet paper.

plenty of time for deep dives, but a couple of early notes

Jerome could give us problems if they go big... he’s another 6’5” point guard, won’t hurt us in transition like Coby White, but is a knockdown shooter and will pull from DEEP

Danjel/Malik/Horace gonna have a different problem on their hands with Deandre Hunter... he’s not gonna hurt them with physicality, but will stretch them and drive it on them relentlessly... he’s a slightly smaller version of Chuma, a lottery pick, and the main difference in this years UVA team... he was hurt last year and missed the loss to UMBC

aside from that, they’re not going to pose a ton of issues from a physical talent standpoint... their starters are

5’9” 155
6’2” 175
6’5” 195
6’7” 225
6’9” 228

they come off the bench with
6’10” 250
6’8” 225 (Braxton Key transfer from BAMA)
7’1” 232

their bench played 11 minutes total against Oregon... Jack Salt is the big clumsy oaf who comes off the bench, he played 34 minutes against Purdue - Key played 2 - no one else played off the bench

they play slowly and deliberately which helps, but they literally have 6 guys they trust, 1 (Salt) cant stay on the court against us if we’re shooting well, 2 are slow unathletic white dudes, 1 is a midget true freshman who avg’s 4 pts/game and is scared to shoot (32% from 3, 34% from the field), and 2 super athletic forwards who will give us problems but aren’t especially strong

Bryce and Samir defend Kyle Guy like they did Herro today and the only question is do we shoot it well enough to win by 20 or grind out an ugly 8-10 point game that’s never really in doubt the last 6-8 minutes?

We are way more athletic but they can shoot it better than you think. They impose their style of play like we have imposed our style of play on teams except for UK. The main problem is they don’t turn the ball over like we want. Can we speed them up? Gonna be tough but if we can shoot like we did against Kansas and UNC..

I sat in front of his high school coach during the Prayer at Jordan Hare. Game was going well early and he was telling us how Nick always just made good things happen. My favorite part of this match up will be our bigs not getting in foul trouble. Rarely does either team even reach the bonus in Virginia games.

We have to push the pace and get quick shots. Their pick and roll defense is phenomenal and a half court game against Virginia would be a huge mistake.
