OT: AU Hut Hut Squad

kind of wild that they've won some titles without any nfl caliber o linemen.

That is kind of crazy. I guess if you have studs at every other position you can manage.

OL is just such a tough position to make it in the league. If you're not a for sure starter then they want you to be versatile enough to play multiple positions due to such few roster spots. I always think about how that 2010 OL was a really good college OL, but only one guy made it more than like a year or two in the league (RT I can't remember his name off the top of my head).

Electrifying dual threat Qb +elite DL = peetin for titles.

Of course now they have that pale skinned God child at QB. Guess generational talent with a pinch of mobility will do as well.

2 things from my sister in the AD:

It appears our defense is downright disgusting

It also appears that the wide receivers suck monkey dick. Pickens was a massive loss and Matthew Hill isn't that good. Nix is goinging to start and most of why he looks like butt is because our WR's have been terrible. The offense has confidence in his ability to move the ball on the ground.

Don’t think the WRs suck. Just a lot of guys out with injuries or being held out because of caution

If they do indeed suck, need to play Gatewood and run inside zone read with the occasional deep ball to Williams. Also, with all of the highlight reel picks by Smoke, maybe he can play both ways lol.

Probably a stretch to say our receivers suck after a couple of scrimmages. Not worried about our WR core once healthy and the lights come on.

Literally Seth Williams, Eli Stove, Will Hastings, and Shed Jackson were held out of the scrimmage. And Anthony Schwartz just had minor hand surgery so he wasn’t in it either. So yeah, Sal cannela and McClain aren’t very good but the receiving corp will be fine

Seth has 26 receptions last year. The other three held out had 5 combined. Hopefully they will be fine and Schwartz is back soon.

Little bit of reverse rice logic here seeing as how you failed to mention that two of those dudes played in a total of 2 games combined last year and combined for 55 catches in 2017...

I expect Seth to ride the pine a la Duke Williams, Kyle Davis, and NCM cause Gus. I expect Stove to play the stone hands role. I expect Cannoli to drop sure catches and to grab a few wtf balls. I expect WH to snap another ligament and some RB to be our leading receiver with a ton of catches and a very low ypc cause Gus.

I will say this. I am 100% on the Seth Williams is a mother fuggin boss bandwagon. That doesn’t mean that he’ll be utilized properly or anything but I sincerely think he’s the most talented WR the Boogs have had in a long time. So is Schwartz too. I think we have 2 guys on the squad that could easily be 1st or 2nd rd picks and that’s the first time we’ve been able to say that since probably 2004

I’m with you here 100%. I’m all on the SW train. Hill is going to be a stud as well. Maybe he had a bad day per some on here, but he has the skill set to be drafted high as well. Let’s just hope our QB’s are so good that even Gump can’t kill their future.

Not sure if I mentioned this the other day, but I was talking to my buddy and he said the two positions he felt AU had an advantage over his team were in the front 7 and at WR. I’ll take his opinion to the bank everyday of the week.

Oh horseshit. No need to be concerned about two coming off injuries? Who weren’t exactly studs before injury? You’re acting like Rice defending. Williams is easily our best. And where would he be at Bama?

Got a lot more to prove to be 1st or 2nd round draft picks but I’ll agree they are our most talented by far. The others, if back to 100%, can be average when compared to the elite teams. Will contribute some for sure.

What years did he play? We’ve never exactly been WR U. We’ve had some badass front 7’s though!

I am still pissed at how Kodi screwed up the entire Pickens deal.

Nobody said they were Julio Jones or anything, but lumping them into a group who had ‘5 combined’ catches without mentioning the fact that they only played in 2 games combined is pretty riceish...

So stating a few facts and saying I hope they are fine(coming back from injuries) and that a now injured guy gets back soon is riceish? The two games part was the whole point for me. You’re trying too hard here dude.

Misleading ‘facts’ are a rice staple

What years did my buddy play? 1995-1998. I was just surprised that he said front 7 and not DL. He obviously thinks our LB core is pretty good. Especially considering theirs is littered with 4 and 5 star players.

Heck yeah. If it was me and you and Takeo in 97 and he included this group of LBers as being better, it’s high praise. That Dline had Carson, Brumbaugh, Dorsey, Marcus Washington...lots of talent there too.

Sorry to confuse. He did not play for AU. He played for uga. His comment was our DL and LB’ers this year are better than his teams this year.

Oh my bad. I took it as somebody who played at AU and had been watching practice or something.

I do know UGA has a lot of talent but honestly don’t know much about their DLine or LBers. I know they had Ridleys brother and some dude that could fly on the end last year but I don’t know if either or both are back or gone. Regardless with our inexperience at LBer it’s still high praise.

That’s cool. I missed that somewhere. I can definitely take his word for it.

I’m guessing he’s a huge Pappoe fan @4Panic ?

he loved everything about OP except his frame. He was not sure if he would be big enough to withstand the beating day in and day out. He really liked KJ when they were recruiting him. Reminded him of the mentality and strength and speed of the LB’ers that he had at bama. Hammers as he likes to call them. He said this DL is just ridiculous. They went all out for Brown, Davidson and Big Kat. TD too. The front 7 is where you can win, or lose a lot of ballgames.

That’s cool to hear!

His coaching on that side of the ball is really strong too. You hardly ever see kids out of position and not making fundamentally sound plays. They look more like the Bama D each year he’s there. I’ll be pulling hard for them if they get a rematch this year in the playoffs.

He works really really hard at it that’s for sure. You won’t outwork him. Dude does not sleep. It’s 24/7 365 College Football. It’s hard to pull for him now, but much easier than when he was at bama.

He has to step up in the coaching aspect of the game, because that is where he has shown to be lacking some. But his elite recruiting allows for more margin for error.

He’s not shown to be lacking there very much. No matter how bad you want him to fail.

Yeah I think he has taken some bad gambles, but I don't see a ton of flaws in his coaching. Team is pretty disciplined, plays hard, sound on both sides of the ball, etc...

Now if I was talking to Georgia fans I would claim that he is a dumbass, but here on the Greg I will freely admit that I think he is a good coach.

Yea sometimes you want it so bad you are blinded by what would seem to be reasonable decision making. He will always play to win. he admits that’s a flaw sometimes. He has complete belief in his staff and players. Feels they can win any play at anytime. As a player that’s what you want. As a fan sometimes you say WTF. I would take his flaws with his skillset and work effort everyday. That was the biggest kick in the balls thinking he was going to be our coach. Went from winning the coaching lottery (selfishly in my eyes) to hating AU and everything relating to it in about an hours time. I remember exactly where I was and what I was doing when he called and said he felt like he had the job. 1hr later it was announced that we had hired Gus. Devastating!
