Cord came here knowing what was here and what was coming so it doesn’t really make sense for him to leave already but it really doesn’t make sense for him to stay?? If Willis stays, he will get his chance this fall IMO.
I'd love for Willis to stick around at safety. I don't see Cord as a good backup option and would be nice to have an emergency third QB if Nix and/or Joey get hurt or shit the bed.
You'd think one of the two transfer. It would be bad from a depth standpoint if both do. We're not in on a top qb this year either which isn't a surprise after signing Nix last year.
If Gatewood were to win the job you would hope we could convince one of Sandberg or Willis to stick around so that Nix could redshirt. You don't want your top two options to be in the same class. That being said, Gus will probably do just that and then everyone who doesn't win the job might transfer.
You realize players can now play 4 games and still redshirt. That could be huge for Nix next year.
I just hope Gus learns to count to four so we don't have another screw up like the one that cost us that running back last year
Yeah I should have added that I just see Gus fvcking up his redshirt if he is the backup. Maybe plays him in the first four games and then we have to use him later in the season to get Gus's signature 8th win.
Agree. Could’ve been big for Gatewood last year as well. But oh well.
My understanding is Gatewood was in the doghouse all last year and is a completely different person this year.
If Gus had any clue he might be the QB of the future, he should’ve been disciplined, done his work to get back, and played many minutes in our crap games. If he was so “bad” that it made that scenario impossible, he should’ve run his ass off.

I think most people can run a zone read with a well protected and well taken care of, broken digit.
Would've required the OL to run block worth a damn. I have no problem believing a broke a finger or two but I'm having trouble understanding why that kept him on the sideline all season when he had 4 free games.
BTW, I think this year's OL will be moderately better than last season as long as they don't have any injuries. Still going to be mid-tier though and in 2020 will be absolute garbage.
Assume Nix wins the job, which is more likely:
1. The rice-level posters of the world turn on Nix for not being ready to lead us to a championship with a mediocre OL, mediocre head coach in a mediocre offense.

I listened to 7 or 8 minutes. Sure sounds different than what we’ve all heard about dog house Joey.
I think the most plausible scenario was he was probably catching passes on the jugs machine bc Gus/Kodi (stupidly) got the idea to get him some reps catching passes with the TEs, in case we could use him last year.
Not sure I believe the Boog company line that he went into the equipment room and pulled out the jugs machine on his own time, on his own accord, when he was supposed to be repping QB footwork, working on route-timing with WRs, and studying his playbook.
Given Gus’s history, I won’t be convinced otherwise.
How different will an effective game plan for Gatewood look vs an effective game plan for Beaux Nix?? Can we execute two separate game plans for “bracketed” starters?
I think basically the same only, Bo would have far more short and intermediate routes and Joey would likely have more run options. I think having multiple rb's that can catch the ball will be huge in opening up Joey's game plan.
Cord isn’t going anywhere. He’s getting a degree and I think he’s happy with that.
