DisAUpointed
Turnovers man. Every loss we have had it’s the main thing why
Meh. We would have won those 2 games with Wiley imo.We shot poorly from 3 against UK and USCe. But it’s typically more about us than it is our opponents. That’s why I can’t blame any of the losses on Wiley being out, although I’m in the tiny minority with those thoughts. We should’ve beaten UK at home and damn sure should’ve beaten USCe and should’ve won today. We just aren’t as good as I thought we’d be.

I think you’re forgetting how much we got abused inside in those two games.
I think you’re forgetting that we shot 28% from 3 and had a shit ton of turnovers against USCe. UK starts 3 guards and 2 6’8” guys. It’s not always a size thing. Nobody else here feels that way, and I’m not trying to change anybody’s mind.
Sometimes getting abused inside starts with a 6’2” guard poking his lip out and not playing toug D and a 5’8” guard not Being able to hold his own. An immobile 6’11” helps at times with that but can’t guarnty anything for me.
Well yeah nobody agrees with you because you’re trying to argue that losing a starter a few days before we play one of the all time best programs in the country (and currently ranked 7th to our NR) didn’t make a difference. While simultaneously arguing that we “should have” beaten a team on the road that had a center score 30+ against us while we were missing the only 5 star center in AU basketball history.
We don’t need VCU transfers Presbyterian transfers or JUCO’s; none of that bullshit. I know we had to get those guys, but moving forward we need to max out on scholarship players(this past class was a good start) and sign guys with a high basketball IQ(most who are wanted by other good programs). We don’t have to sign guys like Anfernee, Samir and Dunbar anymore. Again, we had to sign them and I understand.
Moving forward stay away from them unless you have 10 solid guys and they are your 11-12-13 scholarship player. I take that back, don’t ever sign someone like Dunbar. He doesn’t need to be a 12th or 13th guy.
Not one to harp on “wait til next year”, but the Final Four is in ATL next year. I’m hopeful that BRUCE & the HYGS will show up to see me, cause I’m gonna knock this one off the old bucket list for sure. I’m not through following my squad until the year is done, but I’ll save most of my money from huthut next year & spend it on what’s become my favorite sport Boogs related. I done crossed off my trip to the Swamp next year to ease my mind over the $$$none of the losses before today meant anything to me... this one pretty much killed the season for me - not because we lost, but the way we lost
every single flaw we’ve shown at any point this season reappeared... we haven’t completely fixed a single one, so there’s too much work still left to do to get anywhere of consequence... and if we can’t mask those flaws the way we shot today, then forget about it
we could pull an upset and make the 2nd weekend, but at this point I have no expectations to even win a game
I’m still gonna enjoy bombing a few squads out of the gym... hope we ruin those bums from Knoxville on Senior Night... and I’ll really and truly enjoy making the tourney and rooting for a Cinderella run - because it will be a fvcking dream if this team does anything in March
That’s a pretty hAUt take. Bruce wants guys like Malik. Just part of it. Always will be.
Dang that’s dark but I feel you. So frustrating to again come up short in a marquee matchup and because we just pissed away a 16 pt lead.none of the losses before today meant anything to me... this one pretty much killed the season for me - not because we lost, but the way we lost

Malik has really regressed since those first few SEC contests. I still think the pieces are there to take it to another level but time is running out. Bruce and Steven gotta figure out the rotations that can get us there. This next 3 game stretch is prob our last chance to do so.
If it’s me I’m cutting Mac and Samir down to 15ish mins. Danjel/ Ho/ Austin picking up the rest. If Malik wants to get back to not playing like a bum that’d be nice as well. We’ve got the guys to at least fix the rebounding and general softness in the paint issues just need to play them more.

Just as long a we don't start recruiting less than handsome young teens.people will recoil at this, but it’s true to a point
you can win with JUCO’s and transfers - especially since the transfer market is such a huge part of college basketball... but ideally they’ll be transfers from bigger schools... and they can’t make up 1/3rd of your rotation
it’s a testament to BRUCE’s coaching job last year and eye for talent for the late bloomers, but if you look at who we’re winning with now, our roster will have a much better pedigree in the years to come

yeah, it was dark... way too dark considering this is still going to end up one of the top 6-7ish squads in the history of the entire program - but I thought we had the pieces to make a deep run if we just cleaned up a few things and it’s frustrating that any sign of progress towards that end was completely wiped away by the same flaws
there’s 1 thing that will bring me around and give me hope:
Jared
Bryce
Chuma
Danjel
Horace (Austin if he ever gets AND STAYS healthy for more than 3 goddamn games)
JVon, Malik, Samir, and Mac can play at the Clam and against the UGA’s and Vandy’s of the world, then get out of the fvcking way when it’s time for the tourneys
YesSorry gents, I missed the LSU game while on vacation. This loss is on me and my gluttonous gallivanting through tropical locales. Is this thread worth reading or will it just make me sad?

it’s a rollercoaster ride for sure - only instead of a fun ending and slowly returning to your original location where you can exit the ride, you fly off the tracks completely and crash to your fiery death in the middle of the park, and to make it worse, you don’t die on impact you just sit and suffer while you burn to death, with the scent of your own melting flesh the last thought you’re able to fully comprehend before you finally succumb
so - knock yourself out

Malik was a last minute deal. We needed a JUCO guy to fill a spot. I’m sure Bruce would rather have a better player if he was given an option. He wouldn’t take someone like Malik over a high school stud.
