Post Game Thread: Washington

Boom is a damn stud and I’ll not entertain opinions to the contrary. Particularly as a defensive coordinator. I certainly give him more credit for our current ‘success’ than I give Gus.

Pretty ridic how many studs he and T Rob procured us and the one that was the #1 croot in the country turns out to be a bust.

Even if Boom is the most overrated coach we've had, I think it might be the most important decision Gus has made for this program because it brought about a real change in attitude on that side of the ball, which Steele has carried on and made even better.

Everything worked out for the best. Steele would have implemented this attitude shift no matter what but it is good the change started during Muschamp’s year.

I think a lot of the idiocy of Gus is his leanings towards Kevin Kelly bullshit ideas and philosophies

For those who watched the LSU-Miami game, could you give us an assessment of the LSU defense and the likelihood of AU's offense to score points. Really concerned that everyone is gonna pull a Washington and just start dropping 8 in coverage and it's gonna take Gus and Chip 3 quarters to switch to zone .

Aggressive is what I came away thinking. They were much different than Washington in that regard. Their best pass-rush DE is out for the season, and that's a big blow to them because I thought he was their best DL. Their secondary is aggressive. I thought Miami had some success running on them, and I wasn't totally impressed with Miami's OL or run game. Their MLB, Devin White, is a fvcking beast and will be a problem for us again. Greedy Williams, their best CB, was good. But they gave up some deep pass plays, and Rosier missed a bunch of open WRs.

Given that LSU doesn't have a Greg Gaines type NG that can play the 0 tech and eat up double teams and clog up the middle of the LOS, I think LSU would be in trouble trying to rush 3 and drop 8 into coverage. I think we will see a more traditional look from them. If they try to mimic what Washington did (which is a style they're not at all accustomed to playing), we're going to torch them. We're going to run the ball at them, and they're going to have to devote numbers to stopping that. If they find they can stop our run game with 5-6 guys, it might be a problem for us. With how clean the RPO game looked early against Washington, it's going to give a lot of teams, including LSU, problems.
