Too big of a deal now to muddy up other threads with this now. Shits getting serious. Things are getting canceled and now two nba players have it.

beginning to the the secT will be the last time we see the Boogs play this season

If I'm being honest gang I'm starting to become more anxious about this thing. Like I think some things are being overblown, but I also think we could experience some panic that makes things even worse.

People are full blown panicking. However, in SK, like 99% of those infected are recovering. From 0-59, the total death rate is like, 0.6%. From 60-70 its 1.2%. People need to calm the **** down. The inclusion of politics into everything from both the media and politicians is not helping at all. I get people being freaked out at the markets, but that too will correct itself once production ramps up again.

This too shall pass.

This is the fvcking worst. Why couldn’t it of happened during football season instead of taking away basketball? I bet the Masters will be cancelled as well.

I’m gonna be livid if they cancel the premier league. I’m in first place in my fantasy league on my way to winning a nice stack. And just know there will be no payout it cancels prematurely

Kansas and Duke just withdrew from the tourney. Gonna be cancelled now probably for sure and can’t see it being rescheduled bc that would just be too impossible imo

So the ACC decided it would only be right to award FSU with the ACC tourney championship trophy without playing a game. Was going to play Clemson today which went 1-1 with them in the regular season.

Really hope the SEC does the right thing here

and presents Auburn with the SEC tourney champ trophy.

When the President announced a 30 day travel ban from most of Europe last night, the political and media conspiracy theories got taken off the table by all reasonable people.

I saw somebody on tbb claiming that it’s all media and political because he barely remembers Swine Flu killing 17,000 plus people under a different President. Maybe the world changed in the last 11 years?? Would it be so fuggin bad if we learned something from that pandemic and less people die this time??

No doubt it will pass. Plenty of doubt on how bad it gets before it does.

All these precautions and kids are still gonna go to spring break and bang. Still gonna be people who violate common sense and put what they wanna do above what is right. I am resigned to it hitting full force at some point. I am also resigned to it basically being overblown and have been much ado about nothing. People die all the time. This is just a sexy tv version of a plane crash disease as a opposed to the car crash variety like the flue or pneumonia that takes far more people out on a consistent basis

The 1% mortality rate seems reassuring, but the bigger problem is the 20% who end up seriously ill and need to be hospitalized. If the projected number of infections plays out as some of the top experts predict, our healthcare system could be overwhelmed which is what is happening in Italy. The doc who treats the Supreme Court and Congress projects 70-150 million infections. A top epidemiologist at Harvard projects 30-70% of the American public will contract it. Really hope those figures turn out to be incorrect.

I know people are looking at Italy, but they touch way more than we do, their population is far older, and I think our healthcare more reassembles South Korea’s... although the lack of testing is absolutely absurd.

I have seen some concerning numbers regarding beds available in the U.S. and projected needs. I will admit that I have no idea what will happen or how concerned we should be.

Went down to the HAM today to check out an eating establishment where I’ll be picking up the bill for a rehearsal dinner next Friday for my oldest Boog. He’s pharmacy manager at a WalmarKs down there & heard on a conference call that there was case of it in our own town (unconfirmed). His fiancée is a nurse practitioner & they both agree that hospitals & clinics will be overrun by folks that aren’t sick enough to even be there. Heard UAB has sent all their residents home for some reason? My youngest ate with us & is in his second year of dental, to the point that it’s all clinical & cannot be taken online.
Then headed to Sams down on Lakeshore & the place was being pillaged for all paper goods. Ground beef & all chicken gone except for a few wings. Seeing your first masks gets your attention, and as skeptical as I’ve been, turned to my wife & said “It’s here”.
EDIT: Honeymoon to Grenada just canceled :(

South Korea appears to have stopped the spread, but they tested hundreds of thousands of people. We have tested something like 5k which as you said, is absurd. I spoke to a couple of doctors at UAB today. They told me they have had a number of people come in with COVID symptoms that they couldn't test. Said they are finally getting testing online soon. Also a private firm in Bham is starting drive thru testing.

A friend of mine spoke to a doc in Oregon who works at a university. Over the last 6 weeks, he said they have had a huge spike in pneumonia cases among students which was very out of the ordinary. A couple of weeks ago they tried to start testing them for COVID and they were told they didn't meet the criteria. Doc said he and his colleagues are now sure all or most of those were COVID cases.

I think that's the biggest issue. If this thing runs rampant, 20% will need hospital care and that will overwhelm our healthcare system.

they are turning people away in Mobile.

Also, wtf was the CDC doing for that month? They just sat around and waited and hoped. Everyone in ATL should be fired.
