The Coronavirus Thread

This shat has me worried now. Seeing all these young healthy people die. No underlying health conditions. A 38 yr old lady from NO today past up taking the test so an elderly gentleman could have it instead. Died in her sleep. The family in NJ where 7 people got it. 4 died the other 3 are in critical condition. All of them pretty healthy and middle aged except for the mother. No one knows why it hit their family so hard. Feel like it’s just a matter of time before someone I know goes down. I like to gamble, but I don’t like the odds of getting it and being one of the ones who has trouble with it and not having a bed or a ventilator.

I’ve been in self isolation with the family down on the coast for 2 weeks. Small town where I can get food and spend my days in the marsh fishing. Stocked up the pantry and have a deep freezer full of fish and deer meat. I’m one of the lucky ones who can work from home and get paid like I was sitting at my desk. Same with my wife. Who knows how long it will last before they start cutting back our workforce. With oil prices tanking and the market completely F’ed, I don’t see an end to this anytime soon. Know a guy who works for FEMA. He just got back from DC and said shits going to get really, really bad. They want to shut everything down, but worry that can only go on for a month before the economy hole gets too deep to climb out of. Seems like they feel now we will have to accept a much larger casualty rate then ever imagined, and it will only start to improve once there is a vaccine, which could be a year or longer. He said we will never see anything else like this in our lifetime. Im just hoping that the weather warms up quickly and helps knock it down some.

Anyway, hope everyone here stays safe and healthy.

did you see their picture? They were all morbidly obese and walking posters for diabetes

this scares me. But I still don't understand how some projections are so apocalyptic when places like Korea (a more densely populated country than ours) has leveled off the outbreak

that literally just happened. Absolutely appalling behavior in a time of national economic crisis.

D's are banking on the weird notion that their constituents would rather see Trump's business get no money rather than quickly receiving money themselves. It's really dumb. I'm not a trump supporter but the democratic leadership is dumb as hell

Like I really didn’t want to make this political, but this is INFURIATING. WTF are those assholes doing other than playing politics with a ****ing pandemic? You negotiate all week. Everything is fine. And boom. Nope. Fvck all you unemployed Americans and small business owners... we have to negotiate unimportant stuff that helps no one right now.

Donnie T urging people to get back to work seems irresponsible but also totally out of his control so who knows. These buttheads need to come get this bill passed so I can get some sweet sweet government money though bc Daddy is looking to buy a new car

I hope he sends people back to work but will not get too political. I am just saying we are no where near death levels worldwide of measles in 2018

An estimated 140,000 people died from measles in 2018, WHO says, up from an all-time low of 90,000 in 2016.

@WDE_Tarp if you get instructions to prepare paper packets for students without internet access, make sure you bring up the fact that Shelby Co. courthouses and some pharmacies are refusing to handle cash because of possible contagions attached to paper. That it can live on paper in theory upwards of a day and you want to make sure there is a process to take that into account.

Shit, you must have mistaken me for someone who matters.

Isn't that @Eagle5 dude a big time hospital administrator/exec for the UAB hospital? Or one the children's hospital in bham? Has anyone htat has access to the bunker seen him post anything about how this stuff is affecting the system there? Or I imagine he has zero time to post

My sister works in the baby section of the hospital at UAB. She said it’s pretty crazy having to wear all the stuff for 12 hours straight but as far as the function of everything it’s going well. Some ppl have gone in to have babies without it and left with it.

He keeps his job related posts to a minimum. He is on a separate site I post on and have no idea if he has said anything on bunker but would doubt it.

Think he's at Children's. And UAB is taking the brunt of the COVID cases right now, and they seem to be handling it pretty well. Only negative for hospitals right now is that elective surgeries are cancelled, and that's a big money-maker, so some smaller hospitals are going to be hurting bigly if they can't open back up to full capacity soon

Great idea from the main board, perfect time for The WNBA to open up and give us something to watch. Might give them a few more fans

Feel like golf could still be going one. Crowds really aren’t that important to the atmosphere and there’s no player to player contact

agree on the golf but I get that a lot of the money for the courses that host come from the actual event. That being said, the ratings on being the only live sport would make up for that in a heartbeat if CBS or whoever would pay the courses to host.

They could even do pay per view and each house would probably $20-30 apiece to watch a live event

Getting a bit real here in rural NORTHWEST Georgia, our outpost or territory. Guy that graduated HS with my oldest Boog has come down with it as well as a fellow HS huthut player. Girl that was in my wedding has died of complications associated with it & another friend’s wife from Mobile, Ga has whipped it with malaria or whatever drugs. I’m not disregarding any of it, but still gonna do my thing in the parks & such until the sun quits shining

Had to fire up the PS4 again in this time of crisis and buy some new video games. Got NBA2K20 and downloaded all the college teams. It’s pretty legit somebody put all the rosters, unis, court designs etc online.

Of course I’m the boogs and decimating the competition. Had to adjust a few player ratings to accurately reflect our boogs skills. Sir Isaac leading the league and of course Jaylin the phenom has surpassed Danjel in the starting lineup.

Our internet went out for about a day last week and I had to fire up the PS3 because it was the only thing I had non-internet games on. Played Tiger Woods 12. Started from scratch and built a character up for 3 or 4 days then got bored and stopped. This is the worst story I've told today, but I'm bored AF.
