I can’t believe it but LSU is favored by 2. I really thought Vegas knew and this one would show it.

Opening statement…

“LSU is having a great year. They’re a very talented team. They’re really well coached. Will Wade – this is only his second year in the league, so people aren’t as familiar with him and the job he did at Chattanooga, VCU and now at LSU. The combination of [Tremont] Waters and Naz Reid are really formidable as a point guard and a 4-man. For us, that would be Jared Harper and Chuma Okeke, so that’s a great matchup there. Jared Harper and Tremont Waters are two of the top two or three smaller point guards in the country. What a great matchup that’s going to be, speed on speed. They both do it differently, but they’re really important to their teams as scorers and playmakers, and they’re the focal point of every scout. Reid is a first-round draft pick at some point. He is big. I mean, he’s 6-11, 260 and moves like a guard. He’s shooting over 50 percent from 3 in the SEC. He’s just really talented, coming out of Roman Catholic High School, a McDonald’s All-American type. The big kid, [Kavell] Bigby-Williams, blocks a lot of shots and rebounds. He’s kind of like a 6-11 Horace [Spencer] and plays a great role. LSU rebounds 38 percent of their missed shots. They’re the No. 1 offensive rebounding margin team. They really do a great job of going and getting it. Some of those guys rebound like it’s their play call. Last year [against LSU], we played probably our best offensive first half of the year [in Auburn]. When LSU breaks down that tape, they’d be hard pressed to see us play any better offensive than we did a year ago. We hit our first seven shots and took control of the game right away. We get a lot of credit for having a great homecourt advantage and playing really well at home, but I’m very proud that we’ve won the last two times we’ve been down [in Baton Rouge]. That’s hard to do. I’m not sure how many teams have won two or three in a row down there. I’m sure they’ll be fired up and ready to go. It’s a Quadrant I opportunity for both teams.”

On Samir Doughty and Will Wade’s relationship…

“I don’t know what they’re contact level is now, but I can tell you Will had great things to say about Samir. He left VCU and Samir left at that time. He had nothing but praise. He thought I would be a good coach for Samir, knowing Samir’s personality and my personality. I’d like to think that he was right about that. I really enjoy coaching Samir. He wants to get better, he’s emotional and he’s accountable. Those are great qualities to combine. I thought that he had a good relationship with Coach Wade and I would imagine since he spent his first couple of years there, he did a lot of growing up [at VCU] and developing there. He has just continued that at Auburn. I may not have taken Samir if given the opportunity had Will not made such a strong character reference for him.”

On Quadrant I wins and how the Washington win stacks up…

“That can move depending on how teams do throughout the season. Back when we won [vs. Washington], we thought it would be. Back in December, it wasn’t anywhere close to be a Quadrant I win. Now it is. These things are all moving targets, depending on how teams finish up. We pay attention especially to Quadrant I and II wins. Those are the ones you’ve got to get. You can’t have bad losses and you’ve got to have enough Quadrant I and II wins. Right now, we’re fourth in the SEC in Quadrant I and Quadrant II wins.”

On getting off to a fast start on the road…

“I think the key to winning on the road is to start well. It’s easier said than done. It sounds good, but the reality is if you don’t start well, you can continue to compete, claw, scratch and fight and you can still have a chance. But, if you start well, it just has a better chance to end well. I think the opponent knows you’re there for a reason. I think the officials understand that you are prepared and they’re not going to take it from you. It’s always been a big key to winning on the road to start well.”

On Austin Wiley’s status and injury improvement…

“He’s ok. It’s been slow, but he’s really working through it. After five minutes in the first game [back], he was sore the next day. We practiced him yesterday [Thursday] and he was sore after, but he felt better this morning. He’s not at risk of reinjuring, but he’s definitely feeling it. I think the more minutes he gets and the more he starts to play, the more that problem will be gone. But, he’s still feeling it. I’d like to get him some more minutes against LSU, but I wouldn’t anticipate it’s going to be a drastic change at all.”

On injury updates after Florida game…

“I kept Jared [Harper] off on light duty yesterday [Thursday] when we had a good, hard contact practice. Chuma [Okeke] just had a pain in his … . That’s all that it was. Not that he is one, because he is not, but he had one and he played through it. That’s really good stuff there.”

I'm just gonna assume the Okeke "pain in his..." is groin, from carrying around a massive sack he's gonna rub all over LSU.

yep... Duke, NC St, Ole Miss, Miss State on the road and Kentucky at home we’re missed opportunities but ultimately meaningless

the South Carolina loss hurt but wasn’t a killer, although it looks worse with each passing day...

but the last 3 were the first must wins we’ve faced... we backed ourselves into a corner by blowing those early chances, but we responded well, so I’m hoping we can start to build something now

this Saturday is another one that’s not a “must win”, but we’ve gotta start winning these soon to feel good about our long term March performance

I'm trying to look a things in 4 game windows. We went 3-1 in the last one and we need to do that at least in this one. This is our toughest game by far in this stretch. Ole Miss and Arky at the Clam should be almost sure W's. Vandy on the road should be although we always shoot like garbage in that gym it seems. Beat LSU and we have a strong chance at winning all 4 and being on that 7 game win streak.

This a biggie. Not a must win per se but it’s time to win one like this. They got a lot of size I don’t love Mac in this matchup. Or Samir feels like a Malik/ Ho game where we’ll need their rugged physicality on the glass and in the paint. 15 good mins from Austin would be a plus.

I take Jared over Waters all day but the kid is streaky and capable of just going off. Leads the league in TOs by a wide margin.
I tend to agree it’s not an absolute “must win”, but I think we need a win against a team or two like this on the road to feel confident going into the tournament. I think we’re going to be a tournament team, but I’d like to see us be more competitive in it this season, and I think you need to win a game like this. Wiley’s increased presence will help for sure, but I think we’ve still got to get more out of Purifoy down the stretch. Good news is I think he’s bought in and seems to be an excellent team player this year. They’re trying to slowly boost his confidence and PT, but I think we’ll maximize our potential as a team much more if he’s continuing to improve and is earning close to 20 min by SEC tourney. He’s been efficient per his minutes for the last 3-4 games, I’d love to see us try to gradually increase those minutes if he can keep the same efficiency. His body/style offers so much versatility if we can just have him maximize it on a consistent basis, he can be a major contributor.

Our biggest weakness in losses has been our defense inside the paint. Wiley coming back and the improvement shown the last two games are a positive sign. LSU is fairly balanced in their attack, but I think we can battle with them inside the paint and make them have to earn it moreso than a team like South Carolina who just physically dominated us. Neutral site I think we’re favored, but we’re going to have to step up on the road.

Gave this boogette a follow for actually getting the Bruce presser on video like a pro:

Some great matchups in this one. Jared vs wannabe Jared obviously but I been waiting all year for Chuma to get the better of some overhyped oaf. Perhaps today will be the day.

Hope to join the thread later gang, not gonna be able to start this one on time. Hope we are Boog'N by the time I catch up later.

Had to come to the ATL for dance “competition”. Going to miss part of the first half live so I’m hoping this thread is as active as our HYG’s would be at a Tigerette Social. Help me out guys!

posting last years Boog Extravaganza for the good shooting vibes

lots of Heron early... a Young Davion no look to Chuma for a dunk... but forget that

Jared was a beast pushing in transition and hitting open wings... Bryce was stroking... Mac and Malik flipped in a couple... and most of all - Chuma crossed some big clumsy oaf completely into the next county... I’d forgotten it - but the memories came flooding back, and the blood went flooding south, as soon as I saw it again

Woke up early and ran a 5k this morning. Fastest time since I was running for Auburn. I believe it is a harbinger of great things today. On pre game radio, Samir was talking about how familiar he is with LSU's dirty ass coach from his days at VCU. That is an edge I didn't think about. We whipped their asses in epic fashion last year, but having a former Wade player on our roster this year had to have helped with our prep for this roster expended vast sums of money to assemble.

My gAUd what is the deal with our games coverage being effed by every game before us always running late. At least this trash isn't going to OT.

if Trump would use an executive order to implement my $100,000,000 fine for every game a network schedules in a 2 hr window that runs over, this would quickly be eliminated

schedule games 2:15-2:30 apart or cut your commercial timeouts or pay the price

Now that's a policy I would support. Its effing ridiculous the way they schedule bball games.
