Yeah. Not really sure what qualifies Jason Dufner to be apart of this. Not sure what he brings to the table other than he’s got some free time and he lives in Auburn
They should put Aubie and a glass of Toomer's lemonade on the committee as well. Boog U is such a disgrace to humanity.

It's goofy but it seems kinda typical these days. I'm not sure what the new infatuation is with the "lets have a committee of oddly assembled people who may or may not be qualified" is, but it's happening all over the place on just about any big hire. I think this is some kind of weird layer that the administrations have added that shields them from some of the criticism either when the hire goes bad ("hey this is what that committee told me to do!!!") or keeps them from getting blasted when they hire someone they always wanted to hire anyway that they had previous ties to ("I can't help it if the committee put this former employee of mine on the top of the list....see I'm not the only one that thinks they are great!!").
I view Duf as the fan on the committee. He's not a bean counter. He doesn't care if he's rubbed elbows with them before. He just wants to see winning sports. In that regard, I'm glad he's part of the process. In reality its all theatre and he won't have any way and he could be Bill Gates and it wouldn't matter. These things are worthless IMO. They'll give the president a list and it will 100% include the people he always wanted, maybe with a few wildcards they throw on there for fun. And he will pick one of the people he targeted initially b/c that's what happens.

I mean honestly, you think they'll all be sitting at a big ass conference table and out of nowhere Jason Dufner drops some incredible nugget of wisdom? To be honest, it may be a little wordy and I’m having trouble with the cadence.
I wouldn't be shocked if that was true, only because Gus is a weird kinda guy and will not be fully comfortable with any new face he hasn't dealt with before. He strikes me as someone who doesn't really love new people coming into his life. So even if he's had issues with Timmy, he would probably prefer the devil he knows over the ones he doesn't.
Not going to lie, there have been a couple of hires AU could have made or was rumored to be considering that would have driven me from fandom. One was the rumors about Houston Nutt. There may not be a human I've never met in person that I hated more than Nutt at that time. If we hired him I would not have watched an AU game until he was gone unless it was one that was sure to be his last one, where I would have attending and taunted him the entire time. This is another one that would likely drive me from AU athletics or at least everything not involving Bruce Pearl. I cannot stand Tim Jackson. I would be incapable of cheering for things that made him look competent. If Leath lets that happen he's an idiot of the highest order.
If it's Timmy then it's just another figure-head puppet. Leath will be tying his future to the AD hire, I hope he's smart enough to get this one right.
@Wall Street Guy has been on point with the AD info all fall, so I am going to trust him until he gives me a reason not to believe him.
