OT: NBA Draft thread

I mean, according to the numbers the dude was good... but I was praying he took step back 3’s every time he touched the ball against us... dude tried to singlehandedly shoot us back into the game - and had 0 interest in defending... gonna need a come to Jesus moment if he doesn’t wanna be rooming with Stapha in Turkey next year

Keep in mind dat deez draft boards iz probly mizzin on Wiley. Thay ain't seen him in a yeer. Scouts have seen hiz azz.
If sumwun needz a REEBOUNDER, thay'll take a guy like WILEY beefour a lotta deez utha teemz.
Havin sed dat, I don't know that any teem JUZT needz a reebounder. I don't thank he brangs much to the table in the NBA when it comes to scoring rite now.

TIFWIW but my boy @Big Blue says...
Got some minor tidbits from a FOAF from talking to a buddy in ATL who is buddies with a guy who works for the Hawks. He is unassociated with Auburn but believes based on their scouting for the draft that Wiley will not be drafted highly enough to choose the NBA. He also thinks our our other guys testing the waters will not get good enough feedback to go. Based on the scouting he has been involved with the Hawks, he sees everyone from AU looking at the draft as returning to AU just based solely on how he sees them projecting. He also does not believe Heron will be drafted either. I am not sure exactly what the Hawkls see as their draft needs but they have three 1st round picks and (according to this guy) are not considering any AU players at all.

On a side note this guy said that he never watched a single Auburn game this past season as part of their scouting but that they did watch several bama games. They see bama as having multiple potential NBA prospects but especially Sexton who they evaluate as possibly the first guard taken in the draft. Said the SEC tourney and NCAA tourney helped Sexton. He said that the Hawks scouts could not believe bama lost as many games as they did and that they viewed Avery as having done a poor job coaching that team this season.

As mentioned this is nothing earth-shattering so TIFWIW which isn't much. Just thought the bunker might find it interesting or fight over it or whatever. ;)

When is the combine and when do start getting to workout for teams?

And given the Hawks’ proximity to Boogville, I’d be pretty surprised if the never intentionally watched a game of the SEC champs. Seems dumb if true. But it is the Hawks so it’s believable

I immediately thought that probably meant they’d take him with their last 1st Round pick.

I believe the combine is in late May. The final day to put your name in the draft pool is April 22nd. So, Team workouts will probably happen between then and the combine. I think college players have to decide whether or not to go through the draft by May 30th. I had originally thought that it was June 11th, but apparently, that is the cutoff for international players. NCAA players have to decide before then.

Ehh Hawks ain't what they used to be FO-wise. Schlenk came from Golden State and Bud is Bud

Gotta say I’m extremely disappointed that @Big Blue decided not to bring his tidbits to the premier boog basketball board first...
Mea culpa. Since they were pretty lame tidbits I wasn't sure they actually were worthy of this august body. FWIW, nothing was said by that Hawks guy that I didn't already know from the experts here.

Needless to say, after this semi-public shaming, you won’t be making this mistake again.

that doesn’t get me all hot and bothered... they basically lay out the case we’ve been hanging out hats on for months, but still don’t say flat out that he should come back

teams do weird, stupid shit in the 2nd round... they’ll do something for cap considerations moreso than actually winning games... hopefully Austin is set on First Round or bust and will come back, but if he just wants to get paid and is ok playing in the G League and developing his game there rather than in college, then teams will line up to give him a promise of drafting him in the 2nd round

the scuttlebut would lead you to believe that wouldn’t be enough for him to leave - but if teams convince him he’ll never be a lottery pick and they’ll do a better job developing him than BRUCE, plus they can pay him depending on how much time he spends on the active roster... he’s going to at least consider it

Austin has played half a season of bball for a team that didn't even accomplish anything. Don't think that's doing more for AU than any fan can dream of. Playing half a season of meaningless is bball is like the equivalent of a TUF donation

I think they'll all get drafted

"Ok, Golden State. Since you have the last pick in the draft. You just get all the rest of em"

/Commissioner slides a large stack of papers across the table, comically spilling on the floor and in the laps of their executives/

Speaking of the NBA..this is the least I have been interested this year. Idk why. I usually pay attention and watch the playoffs but this year I just don't care.

Lol what a cvnt. And yes, I’m talking about Vickie.

I'd like to punch any AU fan talking trash to Austin about his mom on social media, but Vickie comes off worse in this exchange. You sabotaged your sons basketball career, even if he ends up making it you took an entire year away from him and likely cost him money with his first contract. You were not some parent with no clue of how the game works, you know this thing inside and out. And you are going to get mad online and pop off at people instead of being big enough to just ignore it?

If Austin wasn't such a stud I'd say let him go because if mom will spout off like this she'll be killing Bruce very publicly when her son doesn't get enough touches next season. But Austin's too good for me to think that way.

Vickie Orr is a selfish, egotistical ****. She ruined Wiley's college career and history will not look back on Austin favorably from an AU fan's perspective. He's not exactly Eric Ramsey/Stanley McGlover radioactive, as far as the evilness perspective goes, but he's def not going to be viewed favorably. She needs to go ahead and KHS before she ****s up his pro-career. Of course, all of this is just my misguided, uneducated opinion.

Given that there’s a decent chance that Austin plays at AU next season, she’d be wise to just stfu if she wants to go see her son play every home game without people heckling her

I want Austin back so bad that I’d be super nice to her if I ran into her. But the minute he’s gone for sure the bitch is dead to me.

Wonder if Austin got one. #81 on ESPN draft prospect list now. I’m guessing he did but they’ve only invited 65ish in years past.
