Boogs vs Mizzou (not mens softball)

Double play ends another promising Auburn threat.

We go to the 8th with only one god damned hit.

2 more Ks and a soft groundout to shortstop are all Auburn has in the 8th.

But good news Boog fans, I have a great feeling about the 9th inning.

Another throwing error by the Boog D puts the leadoff guy on for Missouri.

I take back what I said about my 9th inning feelings...

Holland amazes me. Dude can make the hard ones but struggles with the simple ones. Makes zero sense to me.

Venter K’s looking, reducing Auburn to its final out.

Some seriously terrible approaches and coaching on display out here.

Auburn strikes out to end the game after getting two runners on from back-to-back walks.

Excellent coaching there by Missouri to pitch around Wright.

Auburn collects zero runs, one hit and 9 strikeouts to lose another conference series.

I think, after 3 SEC series, it’s fair to criticize Gabe Gross’s coaching style and approach a little. We’re struggling and don’t seem to be making many adjustments. Not many lineup changes, not much lineup shuffling, nothing much that suggests we’re attacking a pitcher a certain way. Since the Northeastern pitcher carved us up, we’ve been pretty twisted up at the plate with few exceptions.

Y’all think we can match Sunny’s 13-17 SEC record in his 2nd year? I’m honestly not sure we can get there...

I remember telling y’all several weeks back that we sucked at hitting and y’all scoffed at me. @cookedw even through up some runs scored stats to prove me wrong. Who’s the dummy now?
People who don’t understand the game at a deeper level often will mistakenly project conference outcomes based on early season results against “midweek rotation-tier” arm talent.

You see this kind of thing every year.

I just provided stats at the time that didn't agree. But no denying we have been the suck for the most part of SEC play, especially on Sundays. It seems like we cant do a little each game. We either get multiple timely hits or zero.

Good call

I don’t think we suck at hitting. For the first month + of the season, we certainly didn’t suck. So I don’t think it’s a talent issue. I think it’s become a mental issue. And IMO the coaching staff hasn’t done a great job of trying to reset the mental aspect of our hitting approach.

I projected we would finish somewhere in the middle of the SEC not long before SEC play started. Never thought we would contend for a conference title.

Come on. I know your baseball IQ is way above average so don’t give me that. Just because we were hitting “well” against SWAC level talent through the OOC schedule doesn’t mean we were hitting great. We were just beating up on trash pitchers that were throwing beachballs across the plate. We just simply are not a good hitting team. There is no way to spin that.

I hate that you had to actually type that out. It will fall in deaf ears here, I’m afraid.

No. Around .500 was likely (what I thought/think). Tough, tough schedule
I’m thinking 13-17 might be optimistic with the way we’re playing. Hate to see Butch regress like that, but we’re losing all those one run games we won last year.

We’ve already exhausted both the “congrats on the loss” and the “10-4” play calls and we’re only 9 league games into the season...

I think we need Sunny to save us from what’s coming.

Nah. I said earlier in the year that I would not engage in Sonny talks in these threads to clutter them up like tBB used to. Had done well all year until last night. Let my boredom get the best of me.

You can discuss Sonny all you want and clutter up these threads, but I'm out.

I’m preparing myself to hear how tough our schedule is a gazillion times in the coming months...

Yeah I would bow out now if I were you too...

A mentally stronger poster wouldn’t just quit when the chips were down like our current baseball team does...

Perhaps you need a good dog cussing from SUNNY.

It's cool. If need be, I can take one for the team and put you and LIGER on ignore, so clutter doesn't happen like it did in this one.

I really don't want to because y'all are very good posters over here, but I come over here to get away from clutter like this.
