OT: 2021-2022 AUBURN BASKETBALL

We have zero length at the guard position now lol
I mean, two of hte most successful teams in Boog hoops history featured two undersized guards in Jared and Bryce. And if you wanna take is a step further, that 2018 team had guys like Mac and Desean Murray as starters and they were both even more undersized.

Not sure size is really an issue. Especially since this team has a ton of size and length elsewhere. Losing a legit shooter is what sucks. Not sure we've come anywhere close to replacing Powell's shooting. And now we're not gonna have this kid's either.

Bryce was 6’3” so that’s not entirely undersized.

Forgot that Bruce already has this child on lockdown for the next crootin class. IF kessler isn't one and done in boogville, then Bruce could have like 4 massive centers on the roster. Lol

People on the Tronz trying to cancel Bruce because he tweeted out something supportive of Senator Tim Scott last night. I really hate twitter some times

I’m nervous to post anything. Was feeling so good about our depth the day before Trey ran away. Now it’s rumored @Denim Vest will be next. WTF have we done to deserve these tests?
I assure you I have no interest in leaving the GREG. I’ve shamefully admitted to toying with the idea of rejoining tbb but we’ll see about that.

Honestly would love, as an experiment, for all of us to leave The Greg and then just watch to see how long it’d take for Greg to start promoting the board again

Green/Zep
KD/Sills
Flanny/Devan/Moore
Jabari/ Jaylin
Kessler/Dylan/Stretch

questions I have, in no particular order

how well do Jabari and Kessler shoot it and stretch things on offense?

how well do they - and all the backcourt newcomers - move the ball and work as secondary creators in the half court? Can any of them besides Green create shots for themselves and others consistently?

rim protection - how well do the bigs help and contest, and can we alter shots without getting killed allowing offensive rebounds?

we’ll be hell in transition... have multiple scoring threats off the bench that can swing games... should be much better defensively on the perimeter which will have a trickle down effect on the rim protection and transition offense... it won’t be a 40-0 Sharife Oop Symphony, but if you’d have told me no Sharife, no Thor, no Scoot on next years roster I’d never have imagined it looks this well balanced

What we may lack in sheer future NBA stars in the back court I think we make up for with grit, experience and swag. Get some Samir/ Malik vibes from these guards and that’s before they even spend time with Bruce and Steven.

Our front court is the best in the country and it’s not even effin close.

between Devan, Jaylin, and either KD or Desi we’ve got 3 potential Malik’s to come in and swing a game on their own... then there’s Zep and Dylan who can swing games with their devastating good looks... with Moore and Stretch making sure no one can take anything for granted or they’re gonna be ready to take those minutes

and those are the bench pieces

Me three months ago:

While I'd thoroughly enjoy a 40-0 season, it wouldn't be disappointing to have a loss or two going into March. No need for the added pressure of an undefeated run.

Powell gone, Sharife gone, Thor gone, Alexander gone.

I think Jabari is supposed to be a really good shooter, but the move from HS to the college 3PT line will probably have an impact on him. Honestly, I'm expecting a Thor-like shooter next year, streaky with a pure stroke. Kessler has a good stroke too, and if he can come anywhere close to Mac's ability to make 3s next year, i'll take that and be thrilled with it. I just want him to be a 33-35% 3PT shooter with 3ish attempts per night.

I think KD, Sills, and Wendel will be able to create for others pretty well. I just don't know much about Zep other than what people have claimed about his defensive abilities. But I think we got much better with secondary creation with the exchange of guards we had this offseason.

Kessler was a really good shot blocker/alterer in the minutes he got at UNC. And as long as Bruce is coaching, I think we will rebound pretty well. Seems like that's a staple of his system. Surprisingly, Jaylin led us in blocked shots last year with 39, but we will need someone to replace Thor's 37. My guess is the combo of Kessler and Smith can do that. Hell, Akingbola had 25 last year. My biggest concern is we get a lot of guys that are shot block happy like we had last year, and we have three dudes chasing after a blocked shot and no one there to clean up the rebound.

I'd love to be a fly on the wall for these open run scrimmages Bruce is going to allow for the first couple weeks of the summer. I bet there's going to be some great basketball played. And I love that Bruce is allowing it and using it as a way to evaluate his roster.

News alert gang!!!!!!!!!!!

My friend and close pal, Aaron Torres, will be hosting BRUCE on his podcast tomorrow. Just got the heads up. Apparently there will be some real in depth discussion on Walker Kessler. Disappointed Aaron didn't consult with me beforehand this time. Otherwise I would've demanded JT Thor info and some scuttlebutt on the Justin Powell bad blood. But so it goes. But should be a good interview by what he told me.

this child is such a unit. I’m looking forward to seeing him bully opposing guards
He thicc and Steven gonna get the child to lose the lingering UGA baby fat and whatever lameness from being around Tom Crean for a year.

Thought I was honkin a bit when we landed this child but he’s way up there on all the transfer ratings. Stats are super legit. Film checks out. Gonna be a stud.

So it looks like the Desi Sills child gonna transfer out? Guess the addition of KD johnson really pissed him off or something. That sucks. But Al can play the 2 just fine in a pinch I guess

Some scuttlebutt about we can’t take him cause we don’t offer his major? God Aurbun is such a joke.
Ha! In that interview on the Aaron Torres pod, Bruce rambles about this exact thing for a good bit. Had no idea it was based on this incident
