OT: 2021-2022 AUBURN BASKETBALL

Ima be flustered if Scoot doesn’t get to Boogville ASAP. The oaf chalkie I mostly just want the 5*s he comes with but will be annoyed if he does BRUCE dirty again.

Looks like Green could be any second now. Not sure what that means all around, but kid is a bulldog and looks like a perfect Pg for Bruce.

Thor returning would give us the bext front court in the nation regardless of what happens with transfers. Who the FVck could compete with Smith, Thor, and JWill????

So that Wendell Green Jr kid just committed. I guess I'm excited but I'm worried that means no Scoot. But who knows.

Whatever. Looks like things are taking a bit more shape. Still need another guard at the very least. So maybe there's still hope for Scoot afterall

Hoops world seems to be really high on this kid. Will say, I'm pretty pumped to be getting what should be AT LEAST a 2 year player. Getting annoyed with the roster turnover and will be nice to have a PG that will stick around a bit

Like him a lot as a J’Von McCormick 12/13th scholly that Bruce and Steven can mold into a much better player than I expect. Still need Scoot and another guard for my taste but we got a couple legitimate PG options locked in so that’s nice.

Tough to match that J'von athleticism. Dude was midget by college ball standards and appeared to have a short wingspan to boot but kid was catching oops and posterizing guys on the reg once he came into his own. Always curious what his measured vertical was.

Green looks to be a little quicker though paired with elite handles. Eager to see how he performs against SEC defenses.

Doesn't have Jared speed, and doesn't seem to be an elite athlete, but seems to have good body control, good court awareness, and a good handle. Also not afraid to let it rip from 30 feet away either
Seems like a poor mans Sharife but who isn’t. Put a couple more pieces around him we’d probably be in good shape.

yeah. He looks just like Rife but without that elite burst of speed. But this kid is still quick and very hard to stay in front of because his handle is silly good so he change directions on a dime

Per someone on the bunk, his 3 pt % was like 45% second half of the season. If true he is literally 3X+ the deep ball shooter Rife was.

I do question that stat though....if he finished mid 30's he must have been Rife level early on in the season.

definitely glad to add him... I’d be lying if I said he checks all my boxes - he’s built like a tank which is always gonna make the jumper look a little more mechanical and not as smooth, but that’s just my aesthetic preference

never gonna have the silky smooth Sharife game, and just too small to be a force of nature like Scoot... but he’s about as good as you could hope to get as a poor man’s version of each I suppose

From 12/30-3/5 (20 games), he shot 43.8% from 3 (42-96). And that includes two games where he combined to go 0-9 in two of the first three games in that date range. His first 9 games, he went 6-36. He had a game on 1/2 where he went 5-7 from three.

In the few Twitter videos I’ve seen, I think he has better handles than Sharife in traffic and on the run.

Gracias for the stats. That makes me feel that much better about the dude. We just may go from the outhouse to the penthouse in team 3 ball %.

A better shooter than Sharife with more thickness and a hell of a lot better defender. Not as quick as Sharife, but who is? Regardless, we didn’t have guys like Zep and Trey waiting on the wings to shoot a 3 from Sharife either.

This guys fits in perfectly for us and will be here 2-3 years. Add in 1-2 more guys and this still shapes up to be a top 10 roster after Thor returns...

I don’t understand the pursuit of Kessler. I just don’t get it. Especially if we get Thor back
They don’t play the same position for starters and are very different players. We want a difference maker 5 on both ends, which is Kessler in year 2.

Thor probably isn’t coming back (which is a mistake on his part obviously), but if you have to pick you take Kessler to pair with Smith over Thor. Better roster fit given our needs.

Having said that, if we end up with all 3 they will all get max front court minutes and that’s ideal, along with Jaylin Williams getting his 14-18 minutes a night. This rotation would kill it:

PG - Scoot, Green
SG - Jasper
SF - Flanigan, Cambridge
PF - Smith, Thor
C - Kessler, Williams

In development:

Moore
Alexander
Cardwell
Akingbola

I’d have Thor back over Kessler in a heartbeat but that’s just my opinion
Most definitely. He’s better at everything than Kessler other than having a wide body.

The internet seems to be indicating Kessler is going back to UNC which coincides with my personal policy on not wanting any chaulkies in our regular rotation.

I would generally agree, but Mac MaClung entered the portal yesterday and I would be willing to make an exception for him

Thor is baby Chuma. With an offseason, he could become full on Chum 2.0. I just don't think Kessler will ever get utilized the way people think he would. I'm perfectly happy with Jay Magic running the stretch 5 and Cardwell coming in to push people around in the paint

That's odd. Thor started multiple games at the 5 and no way Kessler starts over Jaylin.
